Our Children Deserve Better! Dancing Programs in Schools!!
The problem is not the children. Children simply participate in what schools and institutions place before them. They are not responsible for the choices adults make on their behalf.
The real question is: What are our institutions choosing to promote?
Why should the easiest way to involve our children—especially our girls—be to put them on a stage and make them dance to songs that add little to their knowledge, character or future?
Why can’t we give them something greater?
Give them a platform to speak, think, question, research, create, debate, discover, serve society and build something meaningful.
Especially in Kashmir, a land that has produced remarkable scholars, thinkers and educators who understood that education was never merely about performance. It was about knowledge, character, discipline, spirituality and enlightenment.
Our children are not stage props.
They are the future of our community.
And an institution connected to religion carries an even greater responsibility. Its role should not be limited to organising events or putting its name behind celebrations. Its deeper responsibility is to strengthen minds, build character, nurture faith, protect values and produce a generation that is intellectually strong, morally upright and spiritually grounded.
We should ask ourselves:
Are we preparing our children to think—or simply teaching them to perform?
Because our children deserve more than applause for a few minutes on a stage.
They deserve an education that opens their minds, strengthens their character, gives them purpose and connects them to their history, faith and society.
The tragedy is not that children participated.
The tragedy is when the adults stop expecting something greater from them.
And perhaps that is the real question we need to ask:
What kind of generation are our institutions preparing—and what kind of legacy are we leaving behind?
