J&K Govt Files Review Petition in Supreme Court Over TET Issue: Minister Sakina Itoo
Says Government Fulfils Commitment to Teachers, Reaffirms Resolve to Protect Their Interests
Srinagar, June 6 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Education Sakina Itoo on Saturday said that the government has filed a review petition before the Supreme Court regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) issue concerning J&K teachers.
In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, Itoo said, “As committed, the review petition has been filed before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. The Government has consistently pursued this matter and remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of our teachers.”
As per news agency JKNS, the minister had last month stated that the government had acted responsibly and proactively on the issue and had taken concrete steps to protect the interests of teachers.
She had informed that the government had accorded sanction for filing a review petition before the Supreme Court and that the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, through a communication dated May 26, 2026, had directed its Standing Counsel to initiate the necessary legal proceedings.
The minister had further stated that the review petition had been prepared and would be filed before the Supreme Court within a week.
Reiterating the government’s stand, Itoo said the administration remains committed to pursuing all available legal remedies to safeguard the interests of teachers affected by the issue.
