AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON E-WASTE MANAGEMENT
An Awareness Programme on E-Waste Management was organized today in school to create awareness among students about the growing problem of electronic waste and its impact on the environment.
The Principal Shri.Suresh Kr.Chettri of the school addressed the students and emphasized the importance of responsible e-waste management. He encouraged the students to take small but meaningful steps to protect the fragile Himalayan environment, reminding them that individual efforts can contribute to a cleaner and healthier future.
Students actively participated in the programme through posters, slogans and speeches. One of the slogans presented by the students was:
“Less Waste, More Space for Nature’s Grace.”
1. What is E-Waste?
E-waste refers to discarded, old, damaged or unwanted electronic and electrical items such as mobile phones, laptops, chargers, batteries, televisions, wires and other electronic gadgets.
2. Harmful Effects of E-Waste
E-waste may contain hazardous substances such as lead, mercury and cadmium. If not disposed of properly, these substances can pollute the soil, water and air and may pose risks to human health and the environment.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all the students to spread awareness about proper e-waste management among their families and communities. The students were encouraged to adopt responsible disposal practices and become ambassadors for a cleaner and greener environment.
