1861 – Madan Mohan Malaviya, a great freedom fighter, politician, educationist, social reformer, and eloquent speaker, was born on 25 December 1961. He laid the foundation of modern Indian nationalism and founded the Banaras Hindu University in 1916. A member of the United Provinces Legislative Council and the Central Legislative Assembly, he was conferred Bharat Ratna posthumously in 2014.
