67th Foundation Day of B.I.T. Sindri
Today, our college is 67 years old & we are glad that we are a part of this college for more than two years now. The B.I.T. Sindri, Dhanbad started journey away back from 1949 (formerly known as BIHAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, SINDRI but now BIRSA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY). It was shifted from Patna to Sindri in the year 1950 & thus BIT Sindri was born with a principal, three Professors & sixty students in a simple ceremony with a cup of tea on the dining table.
In these last 67 years, it has given the society many stunning brilliant engineers. B.I.T. Sindri is the oldest of all the technical institutions in the state of Jharkhand. Our college has become one of the most famous institutions in India with one of the best infrastructure and lab equipments and it still strives for excellence.
Now, we would to like to state few of its facilities and achievements. It’s not easy for us to say all its achievements but let us present few of them before you. B.I.T. Sindri has a remarkable place in the list of top engineering institutes of India. It has some 14 clubs which are directly controlled by the college administration. Eco Club, Sarjana, Literary Society, Model Club, Photographic Club, Arts Club, Leo Club, Painting Wing, Sports Club, GRS Club, Rotaract Club, ISTE, IETE, SAE India, BIT Cultural Society, AIESEC & CBC (Clean BIT Community)are all its parts.
Last but not the least PRAYAAS INDIA, Prayaas India is the shape given to efforts of the students of B.I.T. Sindri, Dhanbad who thought of the humanitarian aspects nurturing in their minds. Prayaas India is a Non-Governmental Organization which came into existence on April 10, 2008, starting with 10 volunteers and 25 children for providing free and quality education to underprivileged children living in slums and villages near college campuses. The management of the organization is handled by BIT Sindri students. Apart from two-hours evening tuitions to more than 500 children, they are admitted in good private schools for formal education. Currently PRAYAAS INDIA has more than 100 lifetime members 6 child sponsors 200 volunteers. Today PRAYAAS INDIA is providing education to around 800 students. PRAYAAS INDIA has 4 centers well equipped with modern classroom, Hi-Tech teaching facilities, library & sanitation facilities. This all become possible due to hard work of our volunteers, alumni & all other philanthropic people. Every year BLOOD DONATION CAMP is organized by PRAYAAS INDIA & every year record has been broken by BITians by donating large units of blood in DHANBAD district.
CBC (Clean BIT Community) was started on 14th nov. 2014 by our respected seniors which changed the face of B.I.T. Sindri forever.
Today our college strives to uphold its heritage & continues to pursue its objective to spread higher education among women students & inculcate in them the spirit of freedom, both economic & social. It is hoped that the students of this college will be able to live up to the motto of the institution- नियतं कुरु कर्मत्वम्

Don’t forget that every year maximum numbers of GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) rank holders are from our college. Many of them qualify for IES (Indian Engineering Services) & for Civil Services (IAS, IPS, IFS etc.).We also give excellent result in CAT (Common Admission Test). Our alumni are on prestigious post in reputed companies all over the world. Our Training & Placement Cell works hard & as a result various companies visit our college for campus selection.
This college has blazed a lasting trail of passion for not only on the academics but for also other activities. We know BITians are already hard-working because of the demands of academics and extra curricular activities. Our challenge is to carry the same hard working spirit up until we practice our profession in whatever field we may be.
Today our college has gone beyond the UG level. Our college has also Post-Graduation programs in MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, METALLURGICAL, CHEMICAL & CIVIL Engineering (Admissions are through GATE followed by interviews.)
We would like to take this chance to thank and pay tribute to the true trailblazers of B.I.T. Sindri- our professors. Thank you for being our teachers when we needed one. We have maximum number of top spirited and well qualified teachers. Teachers, you have blazed a lasting trail of passion for knowledge and excellence. Without you, we will not be the person we are now, and the same is true for thousands of our fellow alumni, who have been recipients of your dedicated service.
Our alumni reading this may think how they can forget this college. Those nasty professors, half cooked food in mess, and loads of assignments those real facts of life were all fun over here for the 4 years of their life. Those were the best days of their life.
