Word Stress – It Can Change the Meaning!

Did you know that stressing the wrong syllable can confuse your listener?

Let’s look at this word: “record”

As a noun:
I bought a REcord. (Stress on the first syllable)
[= a music disc or data entry]

As a verb:
Please reCORD the video. (Stress on the second syllable)
[= to capture audio/video]

This happens with many English words!
