After Facebook, Alibaba wants to provide free Internet in India:

The company has told Business Insider that it is in talks with telecom operators and Wi-Fi providers to supply free internet in India. Alibaba runs an Internet services company in China by the name UCWeb with the UC Browser being its most popular product.

Like Facebook the company leans towards providing internet to "states that are suffering more (from connectivity issues) and also will have comprehensive analysis on already existing consumers who will actually need this kind of service."

Internet.org and Free Basics were two initiatives launched by Facebook in India in a bid to provide free internet. But it eventually hit a dead end before it could fly off as the company was not given required clearances by India's telecom regulatory body TRAI. As per the rules, content can't be tied to free usage and under Facebook's Free Basics, user could access only a certain sites for free. The project is now parked alongside the Net Neutrality debate that has become as dormant.

"We will definitely look at the opportunity to work together with service providers or even some Wi-Fi providers. We are trying to offer lower cost data to users and better connectivity, even free of cost connectivity. Wi-Fi providers and other players can be potentials and we are in talk", Jack Huang, President of Overseas Business, Alibaba Mobile Business told Business Insider in a statement.It remains to be seen if Alibaba has plans similar to Facebook veiled under the free internet offer or that if it is able to offer free internet in India clearing strict telecom regulations.

tyre-mafiaరోడ్లపై వాహనం పదే పదే పంక్చర్ అవుతుందంటే..రోడ్డు బాగాలేకనో లేదా రాళ్లు గుచ్చుకొని టైర్లో గాలి దిగిందనుకుంటాం.. కానీ ఒకే రోడ్డుపై పలు సార్లు పంక్చర్ అవుతుంటే అనుమానం రాక తప్పదు. పంక్చర్ అయిన కొద్ధి దూరంలోనే పంక్చర్ దుకాణం ఉండటం మరో కొసమెరుపు. దీని వెనకాళ ఏదో మాఫియా ఉందనుకుంటున్నారా..అది అక్షరాల నిజం. ఈ విషయాన్ని బెంగుళూరు కు చెందిన బెనడిక్ట్ కనుగొన్నాడు.

బెంగుళూరులోని బనశంకరి కాలనీలో నివాసం ఉండే బెనడిక్ట్ రోజూ 20 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉండే తన ఆఫీసుకు సైకిల్ పై వెళుతుంటాడు. అతను వెళ్లే ఔటర్ రింగు రోడ్డుకు సమీపంలో తన సైకిల్ రోజూ పంక్చర్ అవుతుండటాన్ని గమనించాడు. అది కనిపెట్టాలనుకున్నాడు. దుకాణంలో సైకిల్ రిపేర్ చేయిస్తుండగా.. కొన్ని మేకులను ఆ షాపులో గమనించాడు. తన సైకిల్ కు గుచ్చుకున్న మేకులను పోలి ఉండడంతో అనుమానం వచ్చి అక్కడకెళ్లి చెక్ చేశాడు. అతని అనుమానం నిజమైంది.

జేబులు నింపుకోవడానికి పంక్చర్ దుకాణం వాళ్లే..కిలోమీటర్ దూరంలో మేకులను రోడ్డుపై ఇసుక వేసి కప్పేయడం..పంక్చర్ అయిన కొంతదూరంలోనే షాప్ కు కస్టమర్లు రెగ్యులర్ గా రావడం అలవాటై పోయింది. కానీ ఈ మాఫియాను కనిపెట్టి సోషల్ మీడియాలో పెట్టాడు బెనడిక్ట్. గుట్టు రట్టవడంతో పోలీసులు ఆ మాఫియాను అరెస్టు చేశారు. వేర్వేరు ప్రాంతాల్లో ఇలాంటి మాఫియాలు చాలా ఉన్నాయంటున్నారు ప్రయాణికులు.
