Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata, organized a National Seminar on BRICS, Geopolitics and Global Governance Reforms: Balancing Multi‑alignment in a Fragmented World on 21st September 2026 at Azad Bhawan, Salt Lake. The inaugural session featured a welcome address by Dr. Sarup Prasad Ghosh, Director of MAKAIAS, followed by the Chief Guest Address delivered by Mr. K. K. Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The keynote address was presented by Prof. Dipankar Sengupta of the University of Jammu, with additional remarks from Mr. Devendra Sharma, Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
The academic sessions brought together distinguished scholars including Dr. K. Jayaprasad, Dr. Rajiv Nayan, Prof. Bimal Shankar Nanda, Dr. Pradipta Roy, Dr. Mainak Putatunda, Dr. Urbi Das, Mr. Drona Bandopadhyay, Mr. Aditya Das, and Mr. Gourav Lama, who shared insights on the evolving dynamics of BRICS and global governance. The paper presentation segment showcased contributions from young researchers and students such as Mr. Amartya Chatterjee, Mr. Arup Maity, Ms. Annesha Saha, Mr. Sobhanjit Mukherjee, and Mr. Swahang Ray Mahasaya.
The seminar concluded with a valedictory address by Dr. Shiladitya Chakraborty, Professor at the University of Kalyani, followed by a vote of thanks, marking the end of a comprehensive and thought‑provoking academic event.
