🌸 How to fast smart this Navratri — without losing track of your fitness goals 🌸
Navratri fasting is a beautiful way to reset your body and mind — but just because you’re fasting doesn’t mean your fitness goals have to take a backseat. Here’s how to stay on track while still enjoying the festival:
🍽️ Portion control still matters
Even if you’re eating “fasting foods,” portions are key. Measure or eyeball what you’re eating — fasting doesn’t mean unlimited kuttu puris or fried sabudana vadas 😅. Overeating any food, even healthy options, can easily add up in calories.
🍎 Fruits are healthy… but not “free”
Fruits are full of vitamins and fiber, but they also have natural sugars. Eating too much, especially in one sitting, can spike your blood sugar and add hidden calories. Enjoy them, but in moderation.
💪 Don’t skip protein
Include paneer, curd, milk, nuts, or whey in your meals. It keeps you full for longer, manages cravings, and helps your body stay strong and energized even while fasting.
🏋️ Workouts during a fast
Your energy may be lower than usual — and that’s okay! Stick to lighter workouts like walking, yoga, or light strength training. Listen to your body and avoid pushing too hard. Quality over quantity.
⏰ Time your workouts smartly
Try to train closer to your eating window so you can refuel properly after exercising. It keeps your energy levels steady and helps recovery.
💧 Hydration is key
Water, coconut water, lemon water, or infused drinks — staying hydrated helps curb hunger, improves digestion, and keeps your energy up throughout the day.
📝 Plan your meals ahead
Decide what you’ll eat in advance so you don’t end up grabbing random oily snacks when breaking your fast. Meal prep = stress-free fasting!

Honestly, being on a fitness journey is not at all easy. It's messy, imperfect and really tough at times. Some days I struggle a lot, it's just a task to get myself out of bed and hit the gym or say No to my favourite food. But I'm sure it's kind of same for you too.
So, here are 7 hard truths I'd like to admit. Maybe you can relate too ?

Who says weight loss diet has to be just salads & boiled food ?
This has been my lunch plate since 2 weeks. Daily. No variation. And I am not complaining... Chicken & rice, what else does a hardcore B**g needs ? 😛
Ingredients (all measured raw) :
White rice : 40 g
Boneless chicken breast : 150 g
Mixed veggies : 150 g approx
Ghee : 7 g
Kcals: 532
Protein : 39.4 g
Carbs : 57 g

When it comes to building muscle, you must be patient, because, as opposed to fat loss, where the changes are quite prominent very soon, building muscle takes time and effort in terms of proper nutrition and training. So it's 100% diet + 100% training.
So, all we need to do is focus on our diet and train equally well and most importantly, be consistent ! And the results will follow.
