On the occasion of World Asthma Day, Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga organized a meaningful community awareness camp at Kandarkulamanikkam Village on May 6, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to preventive healthcare and community well-being.

Conducted from 12.00 PM to 2.30 PM, the camp focused on creating awareness about asthma prevention, early identification, and holistic management practices among the rural population. What made the initiative truly impactful was the direct interaction with the community — listening to their concerns, educating families, and encouraging healthier lifestyle practices for better respiratory health.

Residents and patients were guided on:

Common asthma triggers and symptoms
Preventive measures and early treatment importance
Lifestyle modifications to improve respiratory wellness

As part of the camp, basic health assessments including blood pressure screening and lung auscultation were carried out for participants. A special highlight of the session was the demonstration and guided practice of Pranayama techniques that support lung function and respiratory well-being through natural and holistic approaches.

The enthusiastic participation from the local community reflected the growing awareness and acceptance of integrative healthcare practices. Initiatives like these continue to strengthen the bridge between healthcare education and rural community empowerment.

💡 Ms. Veena Kumaravel (Founder, Naturals Beauty Salon), Mrs. Gayathri Samraj (Gainwell Technologies), J. Sugariya (Salem Silk Handloom), and Sowmya Jayakumar (CEO, Edutech Pvt Ltd) shared powerful stories of entrepreneurship, mental resilience, and breaking norms that hold women back.

தமிழர்களின் பாரம்பரிய அறுவடை திருநாளான பொங்கல், சோனா இயற்கை மருத்துவம் மற்றும் யோகா மருத்துவக் கல்லூரியில் மகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் பாரம்பரிய உணர்வுடனும் சிறப்பாகக் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.

இந்த விழாவில் டீன் – டாக்டர் வசந்தி பாலமுருகன், பொது மேலாளர் – திரு. சங்கர், முதல்வர் – டாக்டர் தர்மசம்வர்தினி, ஆசிரியர்கள், ஆசிரியர் அல்லாத பணியாளர்கள் மற்றும் மாணவர்கள் உற்சாகமாக கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
இரண்டு பாரம்பரிய பொங்கல் பானைகளில் பொங்கல் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டு, பொங்கல் பூஜை நடைபெற்றது. உறியடி, கயிறு இழுத்தல் போன்ற பாரம்பரிய விளையாட்டுகள் விழாவிற்கு மேலும் உற்சாகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தின.

இந்த விழா மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்களிடையே ஒற்றுமையையும், தமிழ் கலாச்சாரத்தின் பெருமையையும் வலுப்படுத்தியது. ✨
