The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Manoharbhai Patel College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Sakoli successfully organized a Guest Lecture on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 29th June 2026 (Monday). The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. D. S. Choudhary with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle.

The programme commenced with the welcome of the dignitaries. The Chief Guest, Dr. Bhaskar Gaidhane, Medical Superintendent, Subdistrict Government Hospital, Sakoli, delivered an informative lecture highlighting the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse. He emphasized the importance of preventive measures, early intervention, and community participation in combating drug addiction.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Piyush Thaware, Director of Astitva Rehabilitation Center and President of Vyasanmukti Parishad Maharashtra, addressed the students by sharing practical insights into addiction recovery, rehabilitation, and the collective responsibility of society in supporting individuals affected by substance abuse. He motivated the students to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Amit Jagiya, NSS Programme Officer, with the support of Ms. Vaishnavi Zanzad, NSS Co-Officer. The programme was effectively anchored by Mr. Dhananjay Raut, NSS Volunteer, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Payal Ganvir, NSS Volunteer.

As part of the awareness campaign, several activities were organized, including a Drug-Free India Pledge, Essay Competition, and Slogan Writing Competition, encouraging students to express their thoughts and strengthen their commitment towards an addiction-free nation.

The programme was organized in the spirit of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), Government of India. The Ministry observed "Nasha Mukt Saptah" from 17th June to 26th June 2026 under the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan," culminating on 26th June 2026, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
