Is it a crime to teach Class 8 students the truth about the system? 🤔
​Following severe objections from the Supreme Court, an entire chapter titled 'Corruption in the Judiciary' has been banned and removed from the Class 8 NCERT textbook.
​The Apex Court observed that exposing young minds to topics like bribery and favoritism is a "calculated move" that could erode public faith in the institution. Consequently, the Ministry of Education has tendered an unconditional apology to the court.
​But this raises a critical debate: Should we keep our future generations in the dark about the system's flaws? Is a healthy democracy even possible without institutional accountability? Does banning a chapter violate our Right to Freedom of Speech under Article 19?
