About NIELIT CHANDIGARH
NIELIT Chandigarh, a premier institute of this region, is a registered society under βThe Societies Registration ACT XXIβ of 1860. It was setup under the aegis of βRegional Computer Centreβ by the erstwhile Department of Electronics, Govt. of India in the year 1978. It was established to promote the use of computers, provide computer education and professional services in t
he field of Information Technology to various Government Organizations, Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies. Upon merger with DOEACC Society, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, in the year 2002, the Centre was re-christened as DOEACC Society, Chandigarh Centre. The centre has renamed as NIELIT Chandigarh w.e.f. 10th Oct., 2011. This Centre has Extension Centre at Shimla. The Centre has a team of 150 dedicated employees working with it. In its continuous endeavor to spread awareness and provide consultancy in the field of ICT, NIELIT, Chandigarh has opened its extension centres at Shimla. The extension centre has made break-through in the field of Corporate Trainings. The extension Centre is also providing consultancy, training and software development services and providing handholding support to various Govt. Departments/ Organization as well. The Centre is ISO 9001:2008 certified for Training Activities. NIELIT, Chandigarh has completed various major projects for a diverse mix of clients and government agencies. NIELIT, Chandigarh has been imparting education and training in the field of Information Technology in formal and non-formal sector. Students of various Engineering Colleges as well as employees of various Govt. departments, Defense personnel etc. have undergone training in various advanced courses. It has also been extending its services in the field of Information Technology to a number of organizations in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh. In various short term programmes ranging from elementary programme like Office Automation to Advance Programmes in the area of Software Development, Network Security, Embedded System and Mobile Applications. The Centre has 5 computer laboratories with around 150 latest state of the art computers for practical sessions. The computer: student ratio is 1:1. Initiatives taken in the recent Past
The Centre has taken up the project of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Govt. NCPUL works for the promotion of Urdu Language in India. This project involves imparting training & certification on one year CABA MDTP course at various NCPUL Centres. Similar Programme is being run for 10 centres of Central Hindi Directorate.
