DAV Sports 2026 – State-Level Taekwondo Tournament Inaugurated with Enthusiasm and Sportsmanship

SR DAV Public School, Pundag, Ranchi, proudly hosted the State-Level DAV Sports 2026 Taekwondo Tournament on 25 August 2026, bringing together more than 500 young Taekwondo participants from 41 DAV schools across Clusters 1 to 10, in a vibrant celebration of sporting excellence, discipline and determination.
The inauguration was graced by the Chief Guest, Captain Saikat Chaudhuri (Retd.), an accomplished ultramarathon runner, Founder of Ranchi Road Runners and a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. The distinguished gathering also included Shri M. K. Sinha, ARO, Jharkhand Zone-B; Shri S. K. Mishra, Cluster In-charge, DAV Sports Cluster-2, ARO, Jharkhand Zone-J and Principal, DAV Bariatu; Shri Bipin Rai, ARO, Jharkhand Zone-G and Principal, DAV Hehal; Mrs. Rishu Chaudhary, Principal, DAV Anand Swami; and Shri Kamlesh Kumar, Principal, DAV Khalari and Games Observer, SR DAV Public School, Pundag.
The ceremony commenced with the welcome song , lighting of the lamp ,hoisting of the Sports Flag, followed by the Oath-taking Ceremony, reaffirming the spirit of fair play, discipline and sportsmanship. The tournament was formally declared open with the release of balloons by the Chief Guest, symbolising the aspirations and dreams of the young sportspersons.
The Chief Guest, Captain Saikat Chaudhuri (Retd.), spoke about the deeper lessons of Taekwondo and life. He emphasised that in Taekwondo, a perfect strike requires the right timing, and similarly, life presents situations where success depends on recognising the right moment and responding with balance, courage and precision. His words encouraged the young athletes to carry the discipline and presence of mind learnt through sport into every aspect of life.

In his inspiring address, Shri S. K. Mishra drew upon the remarkable story of Australian athletes John Landy and Ron Clarke, whose unforgettable act of sportsmanship became immortalised in Melbourne. During a race in 1956, Landy stopped to help fellow runner Ron Clarke after Clarke fell, putting compassion and sportsmanship above victory. A sculpture commemorating this extraordinary gesture stands near the Melbourne Cricket Ground as a symbol of sportsmanship.
He beautifully connected this story with the values that DAV seeks to nurture in its students. He described DAV students as eagles with wings to fly, with one wing representing academics and sports and the other representing humanity, ethics and moral values only a balanced pair of wings can help a person soar. He also echoed the celebrated DAV philosophy associated with Hon’ble Shri Poonam Suri Ji, President, DAV Institutions: “Bhagwan manav banata hai, DAV manavta bharta hai.” The message highlighted that true education is not merely about achievement, but about becoming a compassionate, responsible and value-driven human being.

Dr. Tapas Ghosh, Principal, SR DAV Public School, Pundag, warmly welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. In his address, he reminded the young athletes that everyone is already a winner, because qualifying for and reaching the state-level championship itself represents dedication and achievement. He urged the participants to compete with true sportsmanship, give their best and strive for excellence.
The grand participation of 41 schools, representing Clusters 1 to 10, with more than 500 participants, made the championship a remarkable platform for young athletes to showcase their talent, determination and fighting spirit.
The inauguration set the tone for a tournament where skill meets discipline, competition meets camaraderie, and victory goes hand in hand with values.
May every young Taekwondo athlete step onto the mat with confidence, fight with courage, compete with integrity and emerge stronger,because in sport, as in life, the greatest victory is becoming the best version of oneself.

🚀 National Space Day at SR DAV Public School, Pundag 🌌

SR DAV Public School, Pundag, marked National Space Day with great enthusiasm and a spirit of curiosity and exploration.
National Space Day is observed in India on 23 August to commemorate the historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon and to celebrate India’s remarkable achievements in space exploration.
Adding a special dimension to the occasion, our Principal, Dr. Tapas Ghosh, interacted with the students and shared insightful perspectives on space travel, exploration and the wonders of the universe. He also shared photographs from his own experiences during his visits to NASA and the Columbia Space Shuttle, giving students a fascinating glimpse into the world of space science.
His personal experiences and engaging interaction inspired the students to look beyond the ordinary, nurture their scientific curiosity and dream of reaching new frontiers. 🌍🚀✨

एस.आर. डीएवी. पुंदाग में ' वेद सप्ताह ' शुभारंभ

एस. आर. डीएवी पब्लिक स्कूल, पुंदाग में दिनांक 22.8.26 से 28.8.26 तक
' वेद सप्ताह ' के अवसर पर विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जा रहा है,जिनमें वैदिक महाहवन ,वृक्षारोपण ,वेदों के श्लोकों का वाचन,आर्यसमाज के नियमों का लेखन प्रमुख हैं। इस समारोह का शुभारंभ प्राचार्य डॉ तापस घोष ने मंगल दीप प्रज्वलित करके किया।फिर विद्यार्थियों ने वैदिक महाहवन में भाग लिया।वैदिक ऋचाओं से पूरा विद्यालय परिसर गुंजायमान रहा।तत्पश्चात वृक्षारोपण अभियान का सफल एवं उत्साहपूर्ण आयोजन किया गया। इस अवसर पर प्राचार्य डॉ तापस घोष ने विद्यार्थियों के साथ मिलकर विद्यालय परिसर में पौधारोपण किया तथा सबको पर्यावरण संरक्षण तथा प्रकृति के प्रति अपनी जिम्मेदारी निभाने का संदेश दिया। उन्होंने सभी विद्यार्थियों को अधिक से अधिक पौधे लगाने और उनके संरक्षण का संकल्प लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया। विद्यार्थियों ने पोस्टर बनाकर पौधारोपण का संदेश दिया तथा पौधारोपण से संबंधित सूक्तियां लिखकर पौधों से होने वाले लाभों के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाने का प्रयास किया।
विद्यालय परिवार ने यह संकल्प लिया कि वे लगाए गए प्रत्येक पौधे के संरक्षण एवं संवर्धन के लिए निरंतर प्रयास करेंगे, ताकि आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए एक हरित, स्वच्छ ,सुंदर और स्वस्थ भविष्य का निर्माण किया जा सके।

🇮🇳 S.R. DAV Public School, Pundag Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour 🇮🇳
S.R. DAV Public School, Pundag, Ranchi, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and pride. The campus came alive with the spirit of freedom, unity and nationalism as students, teachers and parents gathered to commemorate this historic occasion.
The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Justice B. B. Mangalmurti,along with Shri M. K. Sinha, Assistant Regional Officer, DAV Public Schools, Zone-B, and Dr. Tapas Ghosh, Principal, hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem and a solemn salute to the Tricolour.
The celebration featured a colourful and vibrant array of cultural programmes presented by the students. Patriotic songs, dances, speeches, thematic presentations and other spectacular performances beautifully reflected the spirit of India’s freedom, diversity and cultural heritage. The impressive parade by the NCC, Guides & Scouts and the Dayanand, Hansraj, Vivekanand and Shraddhanand Houses added grandeur and discipline to the celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Justice B. B. Mangalmurti the students that true freedom is not merely freedom from foreign rule, but the freedom to think, learn, dream and create a better future. He urged them to set clear goals, work with discipline and remain humble, ethical and compassionate. He encouraged students to embrace sports for the values of teamwork and leadership, and to use technology and Artificial Intelligence responsibly. He also stressed the importance of protecting nature and building an India that is technologically advanced, economically strong, socially inclusive and environmentally responsible.
Shri M. K. Sinha, ARO, Zone-B, appreciated the vibrant participation and enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to uphold the values of discipline, knowledge, character and patriotism in their journey towards becoming responsible citizens.
In his address, Dr. Tapas Ghosh, Principal, called upon the students to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and contribute towards building a strong, united and progressive India through knowledge, character and responsible citizenship.
The celebration was also a tribute to the spirit of Vande Mataram, marking its 150th anniversary, and reminding everyone that the freedom we cherish carries with it the responsibility to serve, protect and strengthen our nation.
The programme concluded on an inspiring note, leaving the gathering filled with patriotic pride and a renewed commitment to the ideals of freedom, unity, responsibility and service to the nation.

*एस. आर. डीएवी.पुंदाग में देश विभाजन विभीषिका दिवस*
सीबीएसई .द्वारा जारी किए गए दिशा निर्देश के आलोक में एस.आर.डीएवी. पब्लिक स्कूल ,पुंदाग तथा डीएवी. पब्लिक स्कूल्स ,जोन - ' बी ' के तत्वावधान में देश विभाजन विभीषिका दिवस का आयोजन किया गया।इस उपलक्ष्य में अनेक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए। विद्यार्थियों ने ड्राइंग बनाकर तथा भावपूर्ण भाषण देकर देश विभाजन की विभीषिका को याद किया। राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी तथा अन्य स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों को भाव - भीनी पुष्पांजलि दी गई।
प्राचार्य डॉ तापस घोष ने सभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि आज भले ही हम आज़ादी की हवा में श्वास ले रहें हैं,पर हमें देश विभाजन की विभीषिका या शहीदों की कुर्बानी को नहीं भूलना चाहिए। उन्हीं दिनों को याद करने के लिए आज हम देश विभाजन विभीषिका दिवस मना रहे हैं। आज़ादी की रक्षा तन - मन - धन से करना हम सबका कर्तव्य है।राष्ट्र गान के साथ सभा समाप्त हुई।इस कार्यक्रम में पूरा विद्यालय परिवार शामिल हुआ।

एस. आर. डीएवी. पुंदाग में पुस्तक प्रदर्शनी का भव्य उद्घाटन
एस. आर. डीएवी. पब्लिक स्कूल, पुंदाग में पुस्तकालय विज्ञान के पिता कहे जानेवाले एस.आर.रंगनाथन की जयंती तथा राष्ट्रीय लाइब्रेरी डे के शुभ अवसर पर भव्य पुस्तक प्रदर्शनी लगाई गई। उक्त प्रदर्शनी का उद्घाटन लाइब्रेरियन सविता झा की उपस्थिति में प्राचार्य डॉ. तापस घोष द्वारा किया गया। प्रदर्शनी में कक्षा प्रथम से द्वादश तक के विद्यार्थियों के लिए पुस्तकों के रूप में ज्ञान का भंडार खोल दिया गया है।सभी विद्यार्थियों ने बारी - बारी से अपनी वर्ग शिक्षिकाओं के साथ पुस्तक प्रदर्शनी का दौरा किया ।पुस्तकें देखते हुए विद्यार्थी काफ़ी प्रसन्न दिखाई दिए, कारण कि वे अपनी रुचि के अनुरूप पुस्तकों का अवलोकन कर सकते थे।उन्हें पढ़ सकते थे।उक्त प्रदर्शनी में बच्चों के लिए एक तरफ हिंदी तथा इंग्लिश की मनोरंजक एवं ज्ञानवर्धक कहानी की पुस्तकें थीं,तो दूसरी तरफ उपन्यास के रूप में साहित्य का संसार सजा दिया गया था।इंग्लिश - हिंदी - संस्कृत के शब्दकोश भी रखे गए थे,तो ऊंची कक्षाओं के विद्यार्थियों के लिए विभिन्न विषयों की पुस्तकें भी प्रदर्शित की गईं थीं।कक्षा द्वादश के विद्यार्थियों के भविष्य की तैयारी के लिए जेईई., नीट., एनडीए. ,कैट., क्लैट. , एनटीएसई ., केवीपीआई .सरीखी प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं में भाग लेने की तैयारी में मददगार पुस्तकों की भी भरमार थीं। इसके अलावा अन्य विभिन्न प्रतियोगिताओं की तैयारियों के लिए भी पुस्तकें भी उपलब्ध थीं।विद्यार्थी उन पुस्तकों को देखकर बेहद उत्साहित नज़र आए।प्राचार्य डॉ. तापस घोष ने प्रदर्शनी की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि वर्तमान समय में विद्यार्थी आधुनिक तकनीक तथा सोशल मीडिया से जुड़कर पुस्तकों से दूर होते जा रहे हैं।ऐसे में इस प्रकार की प्रदर्शनी उन्हें पुस्तकों के प्रति आकर्षित करने में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा सकती है।
विद्यार्थियों को पुस्तकों से दोस्ती करनी चाहिए, जो उनके भविष्य को उज्ज्वल बनाने तथा उन्हें उनके लक्ष्य तक पहुंचाने में मददगार साबित हो सकती है।

celebrated Monsoon Celebration with great enthusiasm and joy. 🎉 The children came dressed in colourful raincoats 🧥 and brought bright umbrellas ☔, adding a cheerful touch to the celebration.

Students showcased their creativity by making beautiful monsoon-themed crafts 🎨 such as umbrellas ☔, rainbows 🌈, clouds ☁️, mushrooms 🍄, snails 🐌, and raindrops 💧. They confidently recited short poems 🎤📖 and shared a few lines about the rainy season, expressing their love for nature and rain. 🌿💙

The celebration was filled with fun, learning, and laughter 😊 as the children enjoyed the beauty of the rainy season through creative activities and performances. 🌧️✨ It was a memorable day that encouraged imagination, confidence, and appreciation for nature.
