HR Conclave 2012 - IIM Ranchi

"As every good thing must come to an end", the two-day HR Conclave ended today. The conclave was an extremely enriching experience for all those present and provided them with an opportunity to gain valuable insights from the wide spectrum of renowned industry leaders.

Mr. Senthil Kumar, Chief Human Resources Officer, TISCO said, “I would like to congratulate the Director and the students of IIM Ranchi for taking up the vital topics for discussions and for IIM Ranchi to be the only IIM in the country to start a dedicated HR course.”

Mr. Sujit Sen , Advisor –HR, Webcon reinforced the fact that knowledge of labour laws is highly important for professionals working in Industrial Relations domain. He said “It is as important to know labour laws as it is to know English grammar to build sentences.”

Mr. Amit Das, Sr. VP-HR, RPG Group highlighted the significance of technology in managing the employees. Mr. Amit Das said,” Employees are becoming more and more demanding, they want instant information and technology here plays an important role. Earlier we had passive systems for reporting but now the systems are becoming more and more predictive. The newer systems are enabling the HR managers to get the right information based on predictive analytics before it’s too late. ”

Mr. T.V. Krishnamurthi, Group Head-HR, Titan Ltd. gave a unique insight as to how quality of conversations has suffered due to too much use of technology and how it has lead to greater disconnect between the employees and the management in organizations today than it was earlier.

Mr. Allen Sequeria, Advisor, Mahindra and Mahindra, spoke about the increased aspirations of workforce across different levels and stressed on the importance of communication, both top-down, as well as bottom-up, which would greatly reduce the dissonance among workforce.

Ms. Padmaja Alaganandan, Executive Director, PwC highlighted the fact that in an ecosystem with high growth inequitable distribution of wealth will always lead to dissonance in employees.

Dr. Daljeet Singh, President, Fortis Healthcare brought forth the importance of making a choice in liking what you do, which will result in happiness and in turn, ensure work-life balance.
