🎓 National Workshop Concludes Successfully at GIET Degree College

A two-day National Workshop on “Indigenous Health Knowledge and Women Healers – A Study on Traditional Practices and Public Health Integration” organized by the Department of Humanities and Basic Sciences (HBS) under the AICTE VAANI Initiative, concluded successfully on Friday at GIET Degree College, located within the Godavari Global University (GGU) campus.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Dr. K. Valli Madhavi, Principal of GIET Degree College, said,

“It is the responsibility of everyone to preserve our culture and heritage.”

Dr. Sundararaja Perumal, Director of Aroghya Dhatri Ayurvedic Research Institute, Visakhapatnam, who attended as the Chief Guest, remarked that

“Sanskrit is a divine language.”
He suggested that special Sanskrit classes be conducted for students to encourage them to learn the language. He also elaborated on the healthy habits that one must cultivate for leading a better and balanced life.

The session was also attended by Workshop Convener Dr. M. Savitri, Co-Convener A. Madhavi Kameswari, HoD Dr. Ch. Venkateswarlu, and faculty members P. Goutham Sai, Satya Krishna, and others.

🎓 Quality Knowledge Through Skill-Based Learning!

“Quality knowledge can be achieved through skill-based learning and constructive thinking,” remarked Dr. U. Chandrasekhar, Vice Chancellor, Godavari Global University (GGU), while addressing the inaugural session of a Two-Day National Workshop titled “Indigenous Health Knowledge and Women Healers – A Study on Traditional Practices and Public Health Integration.”

The workshop, organized by the Department of Humanities and Basic Sciences (HBS) under the AICTE VAANI Initiative, focuses on exploring the rich repository of indigenous healing systems and their potential integration with modern public health frameworks — through the lens of the Sanskrit language.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chandrasekhar emphasized that Sanskrit is one of the most expressive and scientifically structured languages, capable of bridging traditional wisdom and modern knowledge systems. He highlighted the importance of skill-based and experiential learning in shaping students who think critically, create constructively, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Delivering his remarks in Sanskrit, Dr. P. M. M. S. Sharma, Registrar, GGU, noted that women have been at the heart of traditional healthcare practices, preserving age-old knowledge and serving as the first responders in family and community health systems.

Dr. M. Savitri, Workshop Coordinator and Head of the HBS Department, stated that this national-level workshop brings together eminent academicians, researchers, and practitioners from across India to exchange insights on indigenous health systems and their relevance in today’s public health ecosystem.
