Seen as a clash between Eastern (Islamic /Arabian) and Western (European/ Christian) civilization and culture, Africa may be expected not to be that much of a target for terrorism and terrorist organizations. Recently however, the clash of civilization thesis appears to have been debunked by the French President, Francoise Hollande, following the Bataclan incident. In spite of this claim however, mainstream terrorism is still largely seen as an attempt to get even with the West and their collaborators/ allies, for perceived wrongs or grievances; whatever they may be! It is largely in pursuit of the later objective that African countries and societies have become not just vulnerable but indeed targets of terrorist organizations and activities. This paper focuses on terrorism and terrorist activities in the various sub-regions of Africa since the end of the Cold War in 1989-East Africa and the Horn, North Africa, Central Africa and the Sahel region, Southern Africa and West Africa. Our intention is to determine the motivations, objectives and expected outcome of the terrorist activities on the developmental trajectory of the countries and societies affected. Using the instrumentalist and constrictivist models of conflict analysis in plural societies, the work relies heavily on secondary data and collections of security and intelligence agencies to reach its conclusions. http://www.ajms.co.in/sites/ajms2015/index.php/ajms/article/view/2164

Abstract: Code switching and code mixing is a widespread phenomenon in bilingual communities now days where speakers switch back and forth between their native language (L1) and their second language (L2). In Pakistan, English vocabulary is frequently mixed in Urdu, the National Language of Pakistan. The tendency of mixing of English words is not only limited to spoken discourse but are also seen in the written data as well. The policy of many public and private institutions demands to use only English language as a medium of teaching. This practice is more visible in the classrooms where English is taught as a Second Language. In this scenario, the policy makers ignore the fact that the learning abilities of L2 learners do vary. In fact they ignore the feelings and attitudes of L2 learners towards this second language.
Teaching of English has been made compulsory but its effectiveness is a matter of question. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effects of code switching and code mixing on the native identities, attitudes, voices, feelings and understanding of the L2 learners in ESL classroom. It also examines how English language and culture posing a serious linguistic and cultural shock and threat upon natives. The methodology applied in this research is both qualitative and quantitative. The target populations are 100 students of different disciplines from University of Gujrat. They have been observed for 1 hours lecture daily for a week. The classroom discourse and questionnaires add a great deal to the data collection. All the data is analyzed by applying SPSS. The findings of this research reveal how the frequent practice of switching and mixing of English affecting the native identities of the learners. The findings are shown in graphs and tables.
Synthesis and Characterization of Some New 2,4,6-Trisubstituted Pyrimidines and Biological Evaluation as Anti-Bacterial Activities Agents

Abstract
Chalcone derivatives (C1-C16) were prepared by condensing substituted 2,4-Dihydroxyacetophenone in position 5 with various substituted aromatic aldehydes according to Aldol condensation. These chalcones were reaction with guanidine hydrochloride under basic alcoholic conditions gave 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyrimidines (D1-D16) in quantitative yields. All the newly synthesized pyrimidines were characterized by means of IR, 1H-NMR and elemental analyses and they were evaluated for antibacterial activity against both gram positive and gram negative organisms by in vitro. 4-(2-amino-6-(2-hydroxy-5-((2-nitrophenyl)diazenyl) phenyl) pyrimidin-4-yl)-6-nitrobenzene-1,3-diol (D11) and 4-(2-amino-6-(2-methoxy-5-((2-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)phenyl)pyrimidin-4-yl)-6-nitrobenzene-1,3-diol (D12) were found to be the most potent antibacterial activity compared with streptomycin as reference standard.
The study was conducted about the use of social networking sites (SNS) and its influence on academics of MBBS students of Jorhat Medical College. In recent times the SNS has become one of the most communication tools for the students. SNSs help the users to interact with the different people and it increases the social awareness and other information among the users. SNSs are supposed to help students to learn for acquiring e-information in the ICT environment. E-learning is one of the most crucial factor for every students by which they can acquire their related information through SNSs.
