The floss rule is a spelling rule that states that when a one-syllable word ends in the letters "f", "l", "s", or "z" and is preceded by a short vowel, the final letter should be doubled

📢 Did you know the letter Y has three different sounds?
Let’s break it down for easy learning! ✨

1. Y as a Consonant Sound (at the beginning of words):

📚 Example: yes, yellow, yogurt
When “Y” is at the start of a word, it makes the consonant sound like the beginning of the word “yellow.”

2. Y as a Long I Sound (at the end of short words with no vowel):

📚 Example: cry, fly, sky
In short words where there’s no vowel before it, “Y” takes on the long “I” sound, just like in the word “fly.”

3. Y as a Long E Sound (at the end of longer words or words with vowels before it):

📚 Example: happy, baby, party
When “Y” appears at the end of longer words, it usually makes the long E sound like in “happy” or “funny.”

💡 The letter Y is tricky, but once you know its three sounds, reading becomes so much easier!
