Working towards cleaner Indian beaches with an ultimate goal of Marine Conservation.
#CleanIndia_Beaches. Lets save our seas, our LAST RESOURCE.
Hello,
I am Animish Limaye from Pune, Maharashtra and I am trying to create awareness among the people of India about the beauty of the marine world. I am working towards a degree in Marine Conservation and a degree in Biodiversity. From a very young age, I have had a fascination for all the critters of the water and the wonderful habitats that the oceans create. Since then, I have worked towards
being in the marine field. I have had a brief stay in New Zealand, where I saw a lot cleanliness being observed. Living in India, a developing country which is having to deal with a lot of waste disposal and heavy garbage dumping everywhere, I want to show people what they are unknowingly/ knowingly destroying. We live in an age where climate change, sea level rise and ocean acidification is a major problem. Waste and garbage management is a serious issue. Many conservationist and activist are trying hard to change mentalities of people towards the issue of dumping garbage. The fact is, the marine world is invisible to us, who live on land and we dont care where our waste ends up as we cant really see it. To truly acknowledge the beauty of the marine world, one needs to put his/ her head under the water and most people havent and hence dont know what they are missing or destroying. I dont mean any offense when I say that man doesnt care about the space he shares with other animals on earth, may it be on land or water. Man cares about himself and the view he gets. Well, when he gives so much importance for aesthetics, I have come up with an idea of creating awareness using this thought. Shorebreak is term coined by fellow lovers of the sea where the ocean meets land; Waves break on the sea shore creating beautiful forms. I want to photograph shorebreak all over the Indian coast so, atleast our beaches could become cleaner. I reckon it will be a small step towards a cleaner, healthier existance for both man and animal not to mention the earth as a whole. Hope you enjoy the photos. Looking forward to some avenue to pass on my message to the masses. I gladly invite everyone to use the #CleanIndia_Beaches to go along with your posts and photos. Regards,
