Goddanti Omkarnath is formerly Professor and Dean, School of Economics, University of Hyderabad. Before 2000 he served on the faculty of Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram. His teaching and research interests have centred around classical political economy, capital theory, Indian economy and teaching of economics. He recently edited (jointly with Sudhanshu Bhushan) a volume titled Dean, School of Economics, University of Hyderabad (Routledge 2026). In 2012 he authored Economics - A Primer for India (Orient Blackswan), an undergraduate first course in collaboration with Malcolm and Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust, Chennai. His other chapters in edited volumes include 'Indian Development Thinking' (Edward Elgar 2016); 'The Meaning of Sraffa Prices' (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021); 'Bharadwaj, Krishna (1935-1992)' (The New Palgrave - A Dictionary of Economics, 2025); 'Labour Under Overlapping Modes of Production (Routledge, forthcoming); and 'Reproduction and Change: Notes on Methodology (Routledge, 2026). Omkarnath held visiting positions in University of Oxford, JNU and University of Rome Tre.
