The final day of Young Entrepreneur Bootcamp (YEB) Edition 12 at BITS Pilani, Pilani campus, marked a fitting conclusion to a week of innovation and learning. The day began with the much-anticipated YEB Pitching Competition, where 20 teams of six members each showcased their entrepreneurial ideas to an expert panel consisting of Prof. Prof. Srikanta Routroy, Professor and Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering Department, Prof. Pratik Sheth, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering and Institute Wide Coordinator YEB, BITS Pilani, Prof. Hitesh Datt Mathur, Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Prof. Gautam Singhvi, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, Prof. Satyendra Kumar Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Management, Prof. Ashutosh Bhatia, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Information Systems, Prof. Radha Raman Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Nirankush Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Prof. Byomakesh Debata, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Finance and Mr. Amit Sharma, Co-Founder of Mcare & Sault, brought forward ideas brimming with potential.

Following the pitching competition, a brief and engaging quiz was conducted, drawing questions from the technical sessions held over the past five to six days. The quiz was led by Prof. Meetha V. Shenoy, YEB Program Head, BITS Pilani, with the dedicated support and coordination of the YEB volunteers.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the YEB Pitching Competition winners, celebrating innovative thinking, collaboration, and impactful problem-solving. Team 7 emerged as the Pitch Deck Winner, led by Shaurya Jain along with Sai Raagav, Hareshwaran Raja, Tamana Kabra, Hannah Shah, and Kavya Vadecha. Their solution addressed the challenge of professionals juggling multiple applications by proposing a single integrated mobile app to significantly reduce time lost in app switching. The Pitch Deck Runner-Up position was secured by Team 14, led by Krisha Sureka with team members Jia DS, Advik Harihar, Viraaj Singh, Jeet Singh Brar, and Ajai Kumar, who presented a thoughtful and empathetic solution focused on elderly healthcare. Team 15 was the winner in the category of social innovation led by Aadya Gupta along with Vaishnavi Asati, Priti Dattani, Jiya Mehta, Shreya Sawant, and Dharshini V., impressed the jury with their socially impactful idea on waste management, highlighting the conversion of sewage into energy and water. Together, these pitches reflected the spirit of innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility that defines YEB.

As YEB 12 drew to a close, students documented their key learnings from the five-day journey in their provided diaries. The Best Diary Awards were presented to Sneha Borle and Vaishnavi Asati for their thoughtful reflections and insights.

The evening also featured the YEB Quiz, with winners Nitya Chawla, Shaurya Jain, Rushali Jain, Sneha Borle, and Sameera Nadkarni, who showcased their strong grasp of concepts covered throughout the bootcamp.

Additionally, the Active Participation Awards for the IoT Workshop conducted on Day 4, where students built a small Weather Monitoring System using IoT kits, were awarded to Ryan Chachar, Ekansh Mehta, Nitya Chawla, Vir Kawa, Vivaan Patni, Zoya Mukri, Rushali Jain, Sharanya Bhattacharya, Eshal Anil Rathod, Advik Harihar, Ajai Kumar, and Yugam Jain.

The coveted Mr. and Miss YEB titles were awarded to Kartik and Krisha Sureka in recognition of their active participation, innovative thinking, and leadership qualities, making them outstanding ambassadors of the YEB spirit.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Ashutosh Bhatia, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Information Systems, who applauded the participants and wished them success in their future endeavors. YEB Edition 12 ended on a high note, leaving an indelible mark on everyone involved and celebrating the entrepreneurial journey of these young minds.

Day 5 of Young Entrepreneurs Bootcamp (YEB) Edition 12 at BITS Pilani was an exciting journey blending science, technical sessions, and insightful technical visits.

The day began with engaging technical sessions, followed by an insightful visit to the Bloomberg Finance Lab, where participants gained a deeper understanding of financial markets. This was followed by an exciting visit to the Department of Biological Sciences, exploring state-of-the-art research facilities including the Plant Lab, Bioinformatics Lab, and Vascular Biology Lab. The learning experience was further enhanced with a tour of the Central Workshop, providing hands-on exposure to advanced fabrication and manufacturing facilities such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and AR/VR welding simulators, and concluded with a visit to the Central Library, where students experienced the rich academic legacy and heritage of BITS Pilani.

The first interactive session was delivered by Prof. Rajdeep Chowdhury, Professor & Head, Department of Biological Sciences, BITS Pilani, who introduced participants to the fascinating world of biotechnology. He shared breakthroughs such as synthetic DNA creation, cracking the protein code (Nobel Prize–winning work), advances in synthetic biology, protein folding for enzyme function, DNA barcoding and extraction, the revolutionary impact of PCR discovery, genome-focused companies, early human cloning research, and emerging innovations like 3D printing of human organs offering a compelling glimpse into the future of life sciences and innovation.

Another engaging and interactive session was conducted by Prof. Gajendra Singh Chauhan, Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, focusing on opportunities and precautions for entrepreneurs in the age of social media. Through case studies of Zomato and insights from Mr. Mahindra, he highlighted the power of social media and advertising, the reality versus LinkedIn narrative, and the importance of being thoughtful and responsible while expressing ideas online.

The day concluded with an insightful and interactive session by Mr. Amit Sharma Khandelwal, Co-Founder of Mcare & Sault, on “Routine, Risks, and Resilience -What It Really Takes to Be an Entrepreneur in India.” He candidly spoke about failures and overcoming the fear of failure, shame, and societal judgment, the courage to risk years of savings on unproven ideas, and the importance of focusing on excellence, pushing cognitive limits, and learning to define, prevent, and repair challenges on the entrepreneurial journey.

January 7th, 2026, marked another enriching day at the Young Entrepreneur Bootcamp (YEB) Edition 12 on the Pilani Campus, filled with invaluable insights, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to learn from Professors, researchers and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The day started with an engaging IoT workshop led by Prof. Meetha V Shenoy, YEB Program Head, Pilani Campus and Prof. Vinay Chamola, Associate Professor from the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, where students built a small Weather Monitoring system using IoT kits. This practical experience gave students a glimpse into the potential of IoT technologies and empowered them to think innovatively.

Mr. Harish Mulchandani, Lead – Incubation, Outreach and Investment at PIEDS, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, delivered an insightful session on ideation and validation, emphasizing creativity through constraints and the belief that “knowledge is the seed of an idea.” He guided students through team-based ideation, problem identification and validation, opportunity analysis, and provided an overview of the startup ecosystem, government grants, and the pivotal role of PIEDS in supporting entrepreneurial ventures.

Prof. Satyendra K. Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Management, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, conducted an insightful session on “Business Plan Preparation”. He explained effective business planning, the role of a business plan, communicating with customers and investors, key components including MVP and the Business Model Canvas, along with financial planning, break-even analysis, and market size and opportunity assessment.

The day concluded with a visit to Rakesh Kapoor Innovation Center (RKIC), where students interacted with aspiring entrepreneurs. These discussions revealed insights into their journeys, future plans, and the process of converting ideas into products. Explored the facilities at RKIC such as 3D Printing facilities, IoT, AR-VR labs, robotic demonstrations. The students learned about the various facets of commercialization, gaining inspiration to pursue their own entrepreneurial aspirations.

The fourth day of YEB Edition 12 captured the essence of innovation and entrepreneurship, inspiring participants with valuable insights and renewed motivation to advance their entrepreneurial journeys.

YEB 2026 : Speaker Day 5

Mr. Amit is an Indian entrepreneur best known as the co-founders of Mcare, a Mumbai-based mobile protection and services company that provides integrated solutions for smartphone repairs, protection plans, and accessory services across India. Under his leadership, Mcare grew a pan-India presence offering mobile protection plans with features like data safety, genuine parts servicing, and doorstep repair services, aiming to reduce electronic waste and simplify mobile maintenance for users.

Day 03 of the Young Entrepreneurs Bootcamp (YEB) Edition 12 at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, offered an enriching exploration of the convergence of science, business, technology, and engagement with BITS leadership. Through insightful sessions and interactive activities, participants gained deeper perspectives on innovation, strategy, and practical ex*****on, making the day both impactful and memorable.

Prof. Deepak Chitkara, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, delivered an insightful session on Intellectual Property Rights, covering patentability, patent filing procedures, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Using practical examples and case studies, he also explained Technology Readiness Levels and highlighted the role of the BITS Technology Enabling Center in supporting innovation and commercialization.

In another interactive session, Mr. Bhomendra Singh Rathore, Head of Business Operations at Digantara Research and Technologies Pvt. Ltd., former Chief of Staff at Ather Energy, and Founder & CEO of ADNUE, shared an inspiring journey of leadership and entrepreneurship. Emphasizing self-belief, authenticity, and the importance of building the right perspective and mindset, his session energized and motivated YEB12 participants to think beyond boundaries, innovate with purpose, and strive for excellence.

The interaction with BITS leadership featured Prof. Sudhir Kumar Barai, Director, BITS Pilani, and Prof. Ajit Pratap Singh, Senior Professor and Dean, Academic–Undergraduate Studies, who shared the inspiring legacy of C.V. Raman and G.D. Birla ji and outlined the BITS vision and ecosystem. They spoke about the multi-campus structure, admissions to first degree, higher degree, and international collaborations with partner universities in the USA, Australia, and France, as well as diverse opportunities in internships, placements, startups, scholarships, and merit-based schemes.

Mr. Dhawal Phadke, Co-founder and CEO of FoodYoga, shared valuable insights on purpose-driven entrepreneurship in the food and health sector, emphasizing the importance of building brands that truly matter. Drawing from ventures like Satvika, focused on conscious snacking, and FoodYoga, aimed at optimizing wellness journeys, he highlighted the philosophy of people, planet, and profit.

Mr. Sriharsha Majety, CEO and Co-founder of Swiggy, shared that entrepreneurship is never a straight line, highlighting how embracing the curves of the journey led him to build Swiggy in the logistics space. He emphasized loving the process even in tough times, building compatible teams by hiring people smarter than oneself, learning fast, and aligning passion with purpose through the concept of Ikigai.

Day 3 of YEB12 concluded with a magnificent Gala Dinner, offering a perfect blend of celebration and connection. Students enjoyed lively musical performances, warm fire pits, delicious cuisine, and meaningful interactions with BITS Pilani faculty, making the evening truly memorable.

Day 2 of YEB 12 commenced with an insightful Design Thinking workshop by Prof. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer, Professor of Mathematical Sciences at George Mason University, Virginia, USA. Before the session, he emphasized the importance of an interactive and well-designed curriculum in nurturing innovation. Through an engaging and hands-on approach, he introduced the ASPIRE program for problem-solving and design thinking, explained the fundamentals of design thinking aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, and highlighted the 3Fs—fluency, flexibility, and failure. The workshop featured the $5 Challenge, discussions on design challenges, the distinction between strategy and tactics, real-world case studies on entrepreneurial failure, and root cause analysis using the 5 Whys, offering participants practical and impactful learning experiences.

Prof. Arya Kumar, Senior Professor and Dean – Alumni Relations, BITS Pilani, who spoke on developing an entrepreneurial mindset. He emphasized that the true purpose of entrepreneurship lies in creating impact and driving change, describing innovation as constructive destruction. Highlighting successful BITSian unicorns, he reinforced that ideas begin as thoughts but must be unique, valuable, and customer-centric.

Another impactful & inspiring session was delivered by Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Honourable Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani, who highlighted the evolving role of professors as educators, knowledge creators through R&D, and innovators applying science for societal good, emphasizing that professors can also be entrepreneurs. He spoke on identifying research problems rooted in societal and national needs and the need to strengthen IP-driven innovation, Stressing that science and engineering go hand in hand, he identified deep-tech startups as India’s next frontier, driven by academia across key platforms—IT, biotechnology, nanotechnology, AI/ML, and quantum technologies. Drawing from his own entrepreneurial journey, he showcased iSens, nano sensors, NutriSense, inspiring entrepreneurial resilience.

Another insightful & learning session was led by Ms. Ruchi Singh, Founder and Formulation Scientist at Bonji. She emphasized that strong companies are built by clearly identifying problems and delivering effective solutions, while also exploring common reasons for business failure. Through an interactive workshop, participants were divided into groups to build a model house, with one group representing customers-highlighting how diverse customer perspectives shape problem-solving and making products fit for customers.

Mr. Rajneesh Kumar, Technology Transfer Officer, BITS Pilani, delivered a talk on “Redefining technology description” for effectively communicating ideas to the public and investors. He covered the dos and don’ts of pitching, different types of pitches, the distinction between technology description and technical description, and how to present technology clearly.
Day 2 of YEB 12 concluded with a hands-on Design Thinking workshop led by Prof. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer (George Mason University, USA) along with Prof. Radha Raman Mishra, BITS Pilani. The session focused on case-based problem solving, critical thinking, empathy-driven product development, defining clear problem statements, and applying weighted decision matrices for effective decision-making.

On 4th January 2026, YEB Edition 12 at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, witnessed a series of insightful sessions by distinguished that ignited innovation and strengthened the entrepreneurial spirit among students.

The audience gained valuable insights from Prof. M. Rama Manohara Babu, former Director, DRDO–ASL and Professor of Practice at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, He delivered a compelling talk on India’s indigenous missile and defense ecosystem. He highlighted the strategic importance of systems such as and Akash in safeguarding national sovereignty and deterrence. Concluding with a powerful message on scientific temper, interdisciplinary thinking, resilience, and entrepreneurship, he remarked: “The next war will not be won by weapons, but by algorithms, materials, and minds.”

In another interactive session by Prof. Chandra Shekar, Senior Professor Emeritus at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, delivered an insightful session on innovation and startups, emphasizing that true innovation stems from real-world problems and continuous improvement. He distinguished between invention and innovation, outlined the startup funding journey from angel investment to IPO, and highlighted strong STEM foundations as the “tree of prosperity,” encouraging resilience and sustained learning.

Mr. Phanindra Sama, Founder of redBus, shared his entrepreneurial journey, explaining how a real-life travel challenge inspired the idea of . He stressed the importance of identifying market needs, learning from biographies and podcasts, building strong teams, anticipating market shifts, and fostering industry–academia collaboration to drive impactful innovation.

Finally, Prof. Krishna Muniyoor delivered an engaging talk on the economic system, using relatable stories to explain core concepts such as needs versus wants, income, scarcity, choice, opportunity cost, savings, circular economy, macroeconomics, budgeting, and stock market investing.

Day 1 of YEB 12 concluded with a temple visit, followed by engaging sports and learning activities, creating a perfect confluence of reflection, teamwork, and experiential learning that left students inspired for the days ahead.

Mr. Sriharsha is an Indian entrepreneur and Co-Founder & Group CEO of Swiggy, one of India’s largest food delivery and quick-commerce platforms. He co-founded Swiggy in 2014 (originally as Bundl) and has led its growth into a household name in urban convenience services, expanding offerings beyond food delivery to include services like grocery delivery and more. Majety studied Engineering (Electrical & Electronics) and Physics at BITS Pilani and earned an MBA from IIM Calcutta.
