Just One Foundation

Just One Foundation Just One supports the emotional, behavioral, educational, and mental health development of Black teenage girls through intentional mentorship.

Founder, Charity Williams, saw a need for the high school students to receive some extra assistance with the process of going to college and is now offering services for free at the Navasota Public Library. We are looking forward to helping any willing student, even it is Just One.

College students:

I’ve been talking to several college students who are stressed with all that comes with virtual learning. Many want to quit, some want to transfer because they are dissatisfied, but frustration is the common denominator. As a teacher, this is uncharted territory for all involved. College is supposed to be a time for all types of experiences and not fully getting that naturally makes anyone more frustrated. Today, I just want to encourage you that this won’t last always, you’re strong enough to see this through, your goals and dreams are depending on you, and there’s so many of your peers who feel the same way. Lean on each other during this time and do your best to keep moving. In the midst of this, make sure that you are making wise, not emotional, decisions that will genuinely propel you forward. If no one has told you, I am rooting for you and super proud of you for sticking with it! Have an amazing weekend! 💚

High school students:

When going through the process of applying to college, there are a few lists you need to make. The first should be everything you need to do to be accepted and enrolled at the chosen college. The second is the list of things you want FROM your college. The first should be relatively standard and the second is all your needs/preferences. Once you make the lists, work at doing what you need to get into the college that matches most of your preferences/needs. Just One can help create and complete both of these lists. Comment below for all your college needs. Keep having an amazing week!

Student loans! The big topic that often isn’t talked about until you’re stuck with so many, that you begin to wonder if it was even worth it! Well, there’s several ways to make those loans minimal, if any at all. It starts early! Academic scholarships require academic discipline/excellence at a young age, but could allow you to go to school debt free. Certain colleges offer free tuition for certain career fields. There are also opportunities for free tuition based on parent income. You can start applying for other scholarships as early as junior year, specific to your major, abilities, or circumstances. It’s important to sit down to look at your options before assuming that you need student loans. That’s why we exist: to assist you in making the BEST choices that suit YOU. Set up your consultation, share this with someone that could use some guidance. Debt free is the key to financial freedom. Have a great weekend! 💚

Today’s tip is super simple, but important!

In order to get into college or receive scholarships you will need letters of recommendation! If you haven’t already, you need to start asking for a few from teachers, community leaders, religious leaders, organization leaders, etc. who have worked with you for general letters of rec. Ask them to keep the letter on file and as you need them, they can change the heading/details to meet your specific needs. This makes the process so much easier because you have planned AHEAD.

Any questions? Drop them below.

Have a great Wednesday!
