Sometimes it’s not the big battles that drain you, but the tiny things you let nibble at your peace.
Even the strongest feel the sting of small distractions. Protect your calm.

It's true! Moods are contagious to children. They can "catch" the moods of the important people in their lives. Have children "catch your calm," not "your stress."

The Turtle Theory
The turtle never hurries.
It moves with quiet certainty —
one step, one breath, one moment at a time.
That’s the Turtle Theory.
You don’t need speed to make progress.
You need direction, patience, and consistency.
Because rushing leads to burnout.
But steady effort builds strength.
Every small movement counts —
even when it feels too slow to matter.
Keep moving.
Not fast.
Just forward.
Beware of MyCoverFactory
Cheating through Facebook by 'My Cover Factory'
On the day of delivery, I eagerly awaited the arrival of my order (Order ID MCF145031499) from 'My Cover Factory'. However, my excitement turned into disappointment when I opened the packet to find a totally different set of dining chair covers instead of the
ones I had selected. The mismatch was not just a simple error, but a significant letdown.
According to the company's return policy, I should have been able to notify them of any issues within 48 hours of delivery. However, since then, I have been met with complete silence. The contact number provided (9930535370) has been unresponsive, with a recorded message stating that 'The dialled number does not exist'. My repeated emails to their official email ID ([email protected]) have also gone unanswered.
These unethical business practices, advertised on Facebook, not only harm the reputation of 'My Cover Factory' but also tarnish the image of Facebook as a platform for trustworthy businesses. I am making this public to warn others about the risks of dealing with companies that use Facebook, especially 'MyCoverFactory' for their operations.
Phonics plays a vital role in helping children learn to read with confidence and understanding. It teaches the relationship between letters and their sounds, enabling children to decode words accurately and independently. By mastering phonics, children develop strong spelling and pronunciation skills, which form the foundation for fluent reading. Phonics not only improves word recognition but also enhances comprehension, as children can focus more on meaning rather than struggling to identify words. This systematic approach builds early literacy skills, boosts confidence, and creates a lifelong love for reading and learning.

Let me just start this by saying this post is not about asking students to read aloud in class.
A dyslexic student should NEVER be asked to read aloud unless they themselves volunteer to.
This post is about read-alouds, which is when an adult reads a book out aloud to students.
Whilst reading aloud to young children will not teach them to read, there are so many linguistic benefits such as building vocabulary, language comprehension and modelling fluency, not to mention the obvious emotional benefits.
Picture books are lexical reservoirs, this means a collection of words, particularly those found in written text, that expands a child’s vocabulary beyond their everyday spoken language.
Reading one picture book per day provides young children with exposure to 78,000 words a year (Logan, Justice, Yumus, & Chapparro-Moreno, 2019)
But as children grow, and we concentrate more on teaching students how to read, we often overlook the continued benefits that read-alouds have for students and for older students.
Reading aloud is just as important for older kids, especially dyslexic kids.
Reading is harder and slower for dyslexic students. Consequently, they typically read less.
If they are to keep up with their peers academically, then it is essential to find additional ways to expose them to as many words and ideas as possible.
This is a challenge.
Dyslexics often encounter a gap between their reading level and their intellectual level, which can turn them off of reading altogether.
We all agree that children benefit from exposure to stories for their content, structure, and new vocabularies, but reading independently is not the only way to gain access to stories.
Read alouds gives teachers an opportunity to model reading skills like fluency, proper pronunciation, and oral expression. These conditions serve all students, but they are critical to dyslexics and essential in helping us to become proficient readers.
