Paradox - The CNLU Debating Society

Greetings to our dear Alumni!

On behalf of the Academic and Debating Committee, it is with immense pride and gratitude that we make you acquainted with the news of the upcoming 13th edition of the CNLU PD.

While CNLU PD still remains the most-anticipated flagship event of our university, the past two years of the pandemic saw its shift towards the online medium. And though we are glad that the ADC could keep the tradition alive on those circumstances, for reviving the PD in the offline medium after such a glaring gap we require all the assistance and guidance we can get.

We have inherited from you, respected alumni, the legacy of CNLU PD. The journey of transforming a PD of an unknown circuit,suffering from geographical bias and disadvantages into not just one of the most prestigious debating events but also the most welcoming and hospitable debating festival within National debating circles has definitely been extremely tough. And the position that we are in today,is the glaring evidence of extreme grit,determination and dedication with which you all have worked to create this extravaganza. We are ever grateful to you for paving the way and providing the opportunities for us. Opportunities, which were non-existent during your tenures.

We have every intention of taking that legacy forward and ensuring that even while adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines, the 13th CNLU PD emerges as the best organised, best debated and more inclusive than ever before. In order to meet the additional requirements in the wake of Pandemic we are establishing an alumni fund for the 13th CNLU NATIONAL PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE,2022.

For this purpose, dear alumni, we humbly request you to contribute to the alumni fund. Debsoc and this committee has given to us our best university experiences—from regular debsoc sessions which adapted quickly to the online mode, to national PD participations, playful competitiveness and most importantly, to the best of friendships and bonds we have found here. With the successful organization of the 13th CNLU PD, we wish to ensure that ADC and Debsoc remains that safe and happy place for the current and future students of CNLU. We would also love to have you with us on the days of the event, and share with you the joy of bringing back our immensely loved offline PD. Please feel free to contact any existing member of the ADC if you have any doubts regarding the same.

Academic and Debating Committee (ADC) of Chanakya National Law University, Patna is organising a Panel Discussion on "Dialogues on Inclusion and Exclusion - a conversation about intersection of law, educational institutions and the LGBTQIA+ community" on 3rd of July '22.

The ultra conservative society where we live in, has been the centre point of discrimination and delegitimization of the issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Many from the community often come to the educational institutions hoping for them to be an inclusive, safe and accepting space. But the conservative mindsets, lack of inclusive policies and awareness further act as hindrances in their quest of seeking equality. In order to raise awareness regarding these issues and to facilitate a nuanced understanding of issues faced in legal spaces, we invite stakeholders from different parts of the country to join us in this panel discussion.
We hope that this panel discussion helps us navigate through the structural and policy reforms that would make educational institutions and legal spaces more inclusive.

This discussion is open to all. Certificate of participation shall be given to the registered participants.

Freshers' Debate, February 2022 The debate shall be held between 14th to 16th of March. All the rounds will take place post-lecture hours.

Inspite of the challenging times, the last academic year brought along a rising crescendo of success for the debating society of CNLU. The walls of limitations have been breached, the fear of uncertainties have been overcome and the sonorous music of success rings loud. Our zealous, diligent and assiduous debaters have brought home a multitude of laurels across various competitions, countries and continents. (We actually mean it when we say it's coming home :').

We believe that this is merely a foreward in the history of Paradox and will act as a mainspring for the motivation of our upcoming debaters.

The Academic and Debating Committee of Chanakya National Law University, Patna is delighted to present to you the 1st CNLU ONLINE BRITISH PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE from 19th April
to 21st April,2021.
After hosting eleven successful editions and being on the cusp of hosting a twelfth, in the Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD) format, it gives us immense pleasure to be hosting the first edition of our debate in the British Parliamentary format and we shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the event lives up to the standards set by past parliamentary debates hosted by CNLU.
This being the first edition, hasn’t made us compromise on the prize money as it shall be as high as ever. This shall be an OPEN tournament (i.e. people who have completed their Under-Graduate or Post-Graduate studies or are not affiliated to any institution can apply too) and Cross teams are allowed. Like previous editions, this year too we have a brilliant Core Adjudication Panel which promises you an exciting and hopefully a different experience.
The tournament will be following N+1 policy.

Owing to the pandemic, this edition shall be held in the online mode. After hosting eleven successful editions, it gives us immense pleasure to be back for the twelfth with the challenges this year are different from any other yet we assure you that this year too, you shall have a fulfilling experience.
The tournament shall be held in the 3 vs 3 Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD) format and the high prize money at stake is as tempting as ever. This shall be an OPEN tournament (i.e. people who have completed their Under-Graduate or Post-Graduate studies or are not affiliated to any institution can apply too) and Cross teams are allowed. Like previous editions, this year too we have a brilliant Core Adjudication Panel which promises you an exciting and hopefully a different experience.

The Registration fee shall be Rs 500 for Debaters and Rs 400 for Adjudicators, respectively.
