In recent years interest in English has been growing interest not in the literature, but in the language, which has proved its utility in Indian society. It has now become clear that English is the lingua franca of the global economy and that, in order to be universally understood and accepted in any educational, social or commercial situation, knowledge of English is necessary. Apart from this, English language is the major medium of higher education in most Indian universities, especially in science, medicine, management and technology, which are the backbone of modern education through which national and international integration can be achieved. It is, therefore, necessary to have knowledge of both Spoken as well as Written English in order to make a contribution to every aspect of life. As soon as a person steps out of his own language group, the need for a link language comes up. This is a problem very peculiar to India because we are a multilingual society. Now a day a large number of students, doctors, engineers, businessmen, even housewives are finding it necessary to use English for effective communication.
