Research Spotlight | Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat
Congratulations to Dr. Temin Payum, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat, and his research team on the publication of their research article in the reputed Elsevier journal Next Nanotechnology.
In this study, the team developed an eco-friendly method to synthesize silver nanoparticles using extracts from two medicinal plants, Curcuma caesia (black turmeric) and Capparis multiflora. The plant extracts acted as natural reducing and stabilizing agents, eliminating the need for harmful chemicals. The synthesized nanoparticles were thoroughly characterized and demonstrated strong antibacterial activity against several disease-causing bacteria, including drug-resistant strains.
This research highlights the potential of Arunachal Pradesh's rich plant biodiversity in advancing green nanotechnology and developing sustainable antimicrobial materials for future biomedical applications.
The college congratulates Dr. Temin Payum and all the co-authors on this significant achievement and wishes them continued success in their research endeavors.
