Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, commemorating the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and celebrating the achievements of its students and faculty.
The college conferred the Principal’s Lifetime Academic Legacy Award 2026 upon Dr. Keshav Kumar Jha-Associate Prof. Department of Zoology, JNC , in recognition of his distinguished and sustained contributions to teaching, scientific research and academic service spanning more than three and a half decades.
The college also facilitated the student achievers of JNC who brought laurels to the college at state and national-level events. The achievers felicitated included:
1. Jame Modi, B.A. VI Semester (Political Science) – secured first place and won the Gold Medal at the 16th RDC Group Song Competition, New Delhi, 2026.
2. Nir Kumari Rai, B.A. VI Semester – recognised as Arunachal Pradesh Best Cadet and also selected for the SSB Super 30 SSB-CAPF training camp at Nizaman, Nagaland, Assam.
3. Munnie Boorang, B.A. VII Semester (History), Ranger, and Bito Dai, B.A. V Semester (Economics), Rover – represented the college at the National-level Tribal Meet of Bharat Scouts & Guides, held at Bharat Scouts & Guides HQ, Shillong, Meghalaya.
4. Min Gelak Ngongpoe, B.A. VII Semester, NSS, and Omik Boko, B.Com. VII Semester, NSS – were also felicitated for their participation and contribution through NSS.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Gindu Borang recalled the supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters and millions of Indians who united against the mighty British Empire. He urged the college fraternity to uphold the spirit of unity, pride, patriotism and service to the nation.
The celebration was attended by Vice Principal Dr. Leki Sitang, faculty members and staff, who joined in commemorating the nation’s Independence and honouring the achievements of the JNC family.
