A meaningful journey is one that reminds us why service, simplicity, and compassion matter.
The Ex-Reliance Group visited
Yusuf Mehrally Centre (YMC)for the first time, making the occasion truly meaningful and memorable. After the simple delicious breakfast the program started with a brief introduction to the history, vision, and values of YMC by Mr. Sawant. He highlighted YMC’s long-standing and dedicated service in the fields of social work, healthcare, education, and cottage industries—services shaped by the visionary leadership of YMC’s Chairman, Dr. G. G. Pareikh. Guided by his belief that ‘work is worship,’ Dr. Pareikh championed simple living, compassionate service, and human dignity, values that continue to guide YMC even in his physical absence.
Mr. Devidas then explained the theme of Bapu Kudi emphasizing the philosophy of simple living and high thinking. He drew special attention to the replica of Bapu Kudi, Wardha at YMC, which stands as a living symbol of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of simplicity, self-reliance, dignity of labour, and ethical living. He also shared insights into the Miyawaki forest and its concept, highlighting YMC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and harmony with nature.
The group later assembled in the medicinal garden, where everyone introduced themselves, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This was followed by a delicious lunch, shared in a spirit of fellowship and togetherness.
After lunch, the visitors toured the hospital, the school, and the girls’ hostel. They interacted closely with the girls, listening to their thoughts, dreams, and aspirations. During the interaction, the girls expressed one of their heartfelt wishes—to experience a Mumbai Darshan. We assured them that the request would be thoughtfully considered and that we would get back to them.
The visit concluded on a warm and joyful note, leaving behind smiles, meaningful conversations, and a deep sense of connection. We returned with not just photographs, but many beautiful memories and a renewed sense of purpose, carrying forward the enduring vision of Dr. G. G. Pareikh that continues to live on through YMC’s work.
