We remember with gratitude Dr. G. G. Pareikh, Founder of the Yusuf Mehrally Centre — a gentle soul, a tireless worker, and a guiding light who taught us that work itself is worship.

The loss of Dr. G. G. Parikh feels deeply personal. I was blessed to be part of his NGO work and his extended family of compassion. His guidance will forever stay in my heart.

A meaningful journey is one that reminds us why service, simplicity, and compassion matter.

The Ex-Reliance Group visited
Yusuf Mehrally Centre (YMC)for the first time, making the occasion truly meaningful and memorable. After the simple delicious breakfast the program started with a brief introduction to the history, vision, and values of YMC by Mr. Sawant. He highlighted YMC’s long-standing and dedicated service in the fields of social work, healthcare, education, and cottage industries—services shaped by the visionary leadership of YMC’s Chairman, Dr. G. G. Pareikh. Guided by his belief that ‘work is worship,’ Dr. Pareikh championed simple living, compassionate service, and human dignity, values that continue to guide YMC even in his physical absence.
Mr. Devidas then explained the theme of Bapu Kudi emphasizing the philosophy of simple living and high thinking. He drew special attention to the replica of Bapu Kudi, Wardha at YMC, which stands as a living symbol of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of simplicity, self-reliance, dignity of labour, and ethical living. He also shared insights into the Miyawaki forest and its concept, highlighting YMC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and harmony with nature.
The group later assembled in the medicinal garden, where everyone introduced themselves, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This was followed by a delicious lunch, shared in a spirit of fellowship and togetherness.
After lunch, the visitors toured the hospital, the school, and the girls’ hostel. They interacted closely with the girls, listening to their thoughts, dreams, and aspirations. During the interaction, the girls expressed one of their heartfelt wishes—to experience a Mumbai Darshan. We assured them that the request would be thoughtfully considered and that we would get back to them.
The visit concluded on a warm and joyful note, leaving behind smiles, meaningful conversations, and a deep sense of connection. We returned with not just photographs, but many beautiful memories and a renewed sense of purpose, carrying forward the enduring vision of Dr. G. G. Pareikh that continues to live on through YMC’s work.

GG's 97th birthday Thara
Yusuf Meheraly Centre's Founder Trustee and ex Chairman, Dr.G G Parikh turns 97 today. Happy birthday dear GG🙏

Dr GG Parikh has made rural development his life’s mission. Rural development should be carried out so that people are not forced to go to cities. It should become a people's movement and the state should be committed to it. Right now…. the only employment being generated is for the city educated.

To further GGs vision we have started a course Diploma in Basic Rural technology course for youth who want to start own enterprise. This course is ideal for youth between 15 – 20 years of age. This course is based on philosophy of ‘Learning while doing’ and therefore you do not need to worry about remembering for exam and writing notes ! All emphasis on working in real life situations. The course offers lots of ‘Doing’ things in the area of Agriculture , Engineering, Energy, Environment, Food processing etc. This is 1 year course conducted in Yusuf Meheraly Center Tara in collaboration with Vigyan Ashram in Pabal village Pune, poineers in this type of training.

30th December our GG's Birthday we inaugurated a small scale community food processing unit .This project trains our students and local women to be ‘Nutrition Entrepreneurs’. Thank you dear GG for all your support 🙏 Regards DBRT Team YMC
