Internationally renowned Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf whose 8 films such as his famous Kandahar, A Moment of Innocence, Salaam Cinema etc. are being screened here, graced the 45th International Film Festival of India yesterday along with his wife Marzieh Meshkini, who also has a film being screened, “The Day I Became A Woman”.

An exhibition of ‘Films of Krzysztof Kieslowski in World Film Posters’ was inaugurated by the International jury chairman of 45th IFFI, Slawomir Idziak. The Ambassador of Poland to India, Tomasz Lukaszuk, Director of Polish institute for culture, New Delhi, Anna Tryc-Bromley and other international dignitaries were present on the occasion.

45 posters have been sourced from, ‘The Museum of Cinematography’ City of Lodz, Poland for the exhibition. These include Three colours 1994 (Japan), Decalogue 1988 (Denmark), The double life of Veronique 1991(Poland) and Three colours: white 1993 (France).

Yesterday’s press conference with Pablo Cesar was very useful to understand his perspective on the film screened in the festival, ‘The God’s of Water’. He also revealed his plan to collaborate with India for the production of a film on Rabindranath Tagore’s 1924 visit to Argentina.

The 45th edition of the International Film Festival of India is gradually unveiling its programs. Along with the Indian Panorama and some much-awaited foreign films (Pablo Cesar’s Gods of Water), the Country Focus of the Festival was also inaugurated. The opening film for China Focus was Finding Mr.Right.

Indian Panorama Non-Feature & Feature Films section was introduced today in Inox 2 at 10:30am. The Chief Guest for this occasion, Manoj Bajpai felicitated the jury members of both categories in the Indian Panorama.

The opening film of the Feature Film category was Elizabeth Ekadeshi directed by Paresh Mokashi. The opening film for the Non-Feature Film category was ‘The Last Adieu’ by Shabnam Sukhdev. Both were screened back to back after the introduction of Indian Panorama at 10:30am.

A press conference was held later in the day at 2pm with the Chairman of Feature Films jury, ‘A K Bir’, ‘Vivek Mohan’ a representative for the Non-Feature category along with ‘R. Bhuvana’. This marked the start of the Indian Panorama Series.

Yesterday the 20th of November 2014, marked the start of the 45th International Film Festival of India. The Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium accommodated an audience upwards of4000. Celebrities & politicians alike shared the stage to partake in the customary ‘Lighting of the Lamps’.

Chief Guest Amitabh Bachchan and Guest of Honor Rajinikanth added an elegance to the opening ceremony. Shobana Pillai amazed an audience in awe as she performed on the stage the niece of actress and dancer Padmini of yesteryears along with her troupe took the audience down to the memory lane of famous dance sequences of Indian Cinema.
