Republic Day 2026 was celebrated at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, reflecting a strong vision, inclusive values, and the spirit of unity because behind every great success stands powerful and inspiring leadership.

For the 24-year-old graduate from , the achievement marked the end of a journey that began not with competitive exams or coaching classrooms, but with learning how to perform the most ordinary actions in a body that resisted them.

Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society, in collaboration with the New Socio-Economic Research and Development Foundation (NSERD), Proactive Foundation, Human Welfare Foundation, and Calyx Interio, celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025 on 3rd December 2025 at Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium, Jamia Millia Islamia. The event aimed to promote accessibility, empowerment, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, bringing together academicians, para-athletes, policymakers, special educators, media professionals, parents, and students.

The programme commenced with a serene recitation of the Holy Quran by Ahmed Khan.

The highlight of the event was the powerful and thought-provoking address delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Vice-President of Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society on the topic, 'A Call for Collective Responsibility and Inclusive Growth'.

Prof. Rizvi emphasized that the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is not merely an annual observance, but a reminder of the moral, social, and institutional responsibility to create a barrier-free, empathetic, and inclusive society.

Prof. Rizvi highlighted that parents play the foremost and crucial role in shaping opportunities for children with disabilities. Their acceptance, support, and belief in their child’s abilities lays the foundation for empowerment.

This was followed by the role of educational institutions as catalysts of inclusion, Prof Rizvi said. He stressed that schools, universities, and learning spaces must adopt inclusive practices, accessible infrastructure, and disability-responsive policies to ensure that every learner can participate fully and confidently.

Finally, underscoring the importance of society's collective action, Prof. Rizvi reminded the audience that inclusion cannot be achieved by a single group—it requires collaborative effort from educators, policymakers, NGOs, and communities. He urged stakeholders to go beyond symbolic gestures and focus on sustainable, long-term actions that ensure dignity, visibility, and opportunities for persons with disabilities.

He further stated that individuals with disabilities have immense potential and can excel in any field, given the right environment and encouragement. He called upon society to focus on ability, not disability, and to celebrate contributions rather than limitations.

His inspiring words resonated deeply with the audience and set the tone for the day’s reflections and celebrations.

Prof. Mohammad Ghazi Shahnawaz, General Secretary, and Dr. Mohd. Faijullah Khan, Secretary, Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society, welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries. Prof. Shahnawaz, in his welcome address, highlighted the importance of creating a barrier-free society through the active role of families, institutions, and community stakeholders.

Children and youth presented a series of vibrant performances including: Jamia Tarana; group dances by Junior and Senior categories; collaborative dance by NSERD Foundation; solo performances (song and dance); a musical skit on mobile addiction and a powerful Inclusion-themed finale by the Senior Class.

The programme concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Dr. Mohd. Faijullah Khan, who expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor (in absentia), Registrar, dignitaries, collaborators, teachers, parents, and volunteers. He reiterated the Society’s commitment to continuous inclusion and community upliftment.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Mohd. Kaif, Chairman, NSERD Mr. Sh*tab Elahi, Director Proactive Foundation and Mr. Naseem Ahmed of CGC, while Ms. Farheen Kamal admirably compered the proceedings.

The ceremony ended with the National Anthem in Sign Language, symbolizing unity, respect, and true inclusion.

डॉ. ज़ाकिर हुसैन मेमोरियल वेलफेयर सोसाइटी ने न्यू सोशियो-इकोनॉमिक रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट फाउंडेशन (एनएसईआरडी), प्रोएक्टिव फाउंडेशन, ह्यूमन वेलफेयर फाउंडेशन और कैलिक्स इंटेरियो के साथ मिलकर 3 दिसंबर 2025 को जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के डॉ. एमए अंसारी ऑडिटोरियम में अंतरराष्ट्रीय दिव्यांगजन दिवस 2025 मनाया। इस कार्यक्रम का मकसद दिव्यांग व्यक्तियों के लिए एक्सेसिबिलिटी, एम्पावरमेंट और समान अवसरों को बढ़ावा देना था, जिसमें एकेडेमिक्स, पैरा-एथलीट्स, पॉलिसीमेकर्स, स्पेशल एजुकेटर्स, मीडिया प्रोफेशनल्स, पेरेंट्स और स्टूडेंट्स एक साथ आए।

कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत अहमद खान के द्वारा पवित्र कुरान के पाठ से हुई।

इस कार्यक्रम का मुख्य आकर्षण मुख्य अतिथि, प्रो. मोहम्मद महताब आलम रिज़वी, रजिस्ट्रार, जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया, और डॉ. ज़ाकिर हुसैन मेमोरियल वेलफेयर सोसाइटी के वाइस-प्रेसिडेंट का 'सामूहिक ज़िम्मेदारी और समावेशी विकास की अपील' विषय पर दिया गया दमदार और सोचने पर मजबूर करने वाला भाषण था।

प्रो. रिज़वी ने ज़ोर देकर कहा कि इंटरनेशनल डे ऑफ़ पर्सन्स विद डिसेबिलिटीज़ सिर्फ़ एक सालाना कार्यक्रम नहीं है, बल्कि यह एक बिना रुकावट वाला, हमदर्द और सबको साथ लेकर चलने वाला समाज बनाने की नैतिक, सामाजिक और संस्थागत ज़िम्मेदारी की याद दिलाता है। प्रो. रिज़वी ने बताया कि दिव्यांग बच्चों के लिए मौके बनाने में माता-पिता सबसे अहम भूमिका निभाते हैं। उनका अपने बच्चे की काबिलियत को अपनाना, सपोर्ट करना और उस पर भरोसा करना ही एम्पावरमेंट की नींव रखता है। प्रो.रिज़वी ने कहा कि इसके बाद एजुकेशनल इंस्टीट्यूशन्स की भूमिका को इनक्लूजन के कैटलिस्ट के तौर पर बताया गया। उन्होंने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि स्कूलों, यूनिवर्सिटीज़ और लर्निंग स्पेसेज़ को इनक्लूसिव प्रैक्टिस, एक्सेसिबल इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर और डिसेबिलिटी-रिस्पॉन्सिव पॉलिसीज़ को अपनाना चाहिए ताकि यह पक्का हो सके कि हर लर्नर पूरी तरह और कॉन्फिडेंस के साथ हिस्सा ले सके।

आखिर में, समाज के मिलकर काम करने की अहमियत पर ज़ोर देते हुए, प्रो. रिज़वी ने दर्शकों को याद दिलाया कि सबको शामिल करना किसी एक ग्रुप से नहीं हो सकता—इसके लिए शिक्षकों, पॉलिसी बनाने वालों, NGOs और समुदायों को मिलकर कोशिश करनी होगी। उन्होंने स्टेकहोल्डर्स से कहा कि वे दिखावटी कामों से आगे बढ़कर ऐसे टिकाऊ, लंबे समय तक चलने वाले कामों पर ध्यान दें जो दिव्यांग लोगों के लिए सम्मान, पहचान और मौके पक्का करें।

उन्होंने आगे कहा कि दिव्यांग लोगों में बहुत पोटेंशियल होता है और सही माहौल और हिम्मत मिलने पर वे किसी भी फील्ड में अच्छा कर सकते हैं। उन्होंने समाज से कहा कि वे दिव्यांगता पर नहीं, बल्कि काबिलियत पर ध्यान दें और कमियों के बजाय योगदान को सेलिब्रेट करें। उनके प्रेरणादायक शब्दों ने दर्शकों के दिलों को गहराई से छुआ और दिन भर के विचारों और समारोह के लिए माहौल तैयार किया।

VC and Registrar, JMI strongly condemn Red Fort car blast; Call it an attack on national security and the conscience of the nation

Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar, JMI, Prof Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, strongly condemned the November 10, 2025 car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort calling it a "dastardly and heinous act of terror" perpetrated to target innocent citizens and threaten national security.

Prof. Asif, expressing his shock and grief at the act that has shaken the entire nation said, "Such acts of terror go against the very values and principles that this great nation and our rich civilization has long upheld, the values of peace, harmony and unity. This message has been disseminated throughout the world by Indian philosophers and thinkers since ancient times, particularly by our Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji. In this moment of crisis, JMI stands firmly with the Government of India in it's 'unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations' as we extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives on that ill-fated and sad day".

Prof. Asif added, "Such heinous acts of terror and mindless bloodshed will reinforce and strengthen our determination to serve the nation with greater resolve and patriotism, in a moment in history when India is being seen as a shining example of non-violence and peace in the world".

Prof. Rizvi condemning and denouncing the Red Fort car explosion said, "Such an inhuman, unfortunate and deeply troubling act is an assault not only on the fundamental ethos of this great nation but also a full-blown attack on India's national security. It undermines the safety and security of each and every citizen of this country. At a time when the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Government of India are working tirelessly to unlock the potential of India's young population and capitalise on our human resource by focusing on the youth and refurbishing the higher education institutions of the country, such chilling and mindless acts sadden us beyond words. Besides, violence has no place in civilized society."

Prof Rizvi added, "We are with the Government of India during this difficult time, and JMI will continue to strengthen peace and harmony in order to overcome these challenges. However, such setbacks will only serve to bring us closer together and we will emerge as a stronger and a more resilient nation that remains undeterred in the face of such attempts to impede our progress and development".

जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया (जेएमआई) के कुलपति प्रो. मज़हर आसिफ़ और रजिस्ट्रार प्रो. मोहम्मद महताब आलम रिज़वी ने 10 नवंबर, 2025 को दिल्ली के लाल किले के पास हुए कार विस्फोट की कड़ी निंदा की और इसे निर्दोष नागरिकों को निशाना बनाने और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा को खतरे में डालने वाला "आतंकवाद का एक नृशंस और जघन्य कृत्य" बताया।

प्रो. आसिफ़ ने पूरे देश को झकझोर देने वाली इस घटना पर अपना दुख और शोक व्यक्त करते हुए कहा, "इस तरह के आतंकी कृत्य उन मूल्यों और सिद्धांतों अर्थात शांति, सद्भाव और एकता के मूल्य के विरुद्ध हैं जिन्हें इस महान राष्ट्र और हमारी समृद्ध सभ्यता ने लंबे समय से कायम रखा है। यह संदेश प्राचीन काल से ही भारतीय दार्शनिकों और विचारकों द्वारा और वर्तमान में विशेष रूप से हमारे माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी द्वारा, पूरी दुनिया में प्रसारित किया जाता रहा है। संकट की इस घड़ी में, जामिया 'आतंकवाद के सभी रूपों और अभिव्यक्तियों के प्रति ज़ीरो टोलरेंस की नीति के प्रति उसकी अटूट प्रतिबद्धता' में भारत सरकार के साथ दृढ़ता से खड़ा है और हम उस दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और दुखद दिन अपनी जान गंवाने वालों के परिवारों के प्रति अपनी गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त करते हैं।"

प्रो. आसिफ़ ने आगे कहा, "आतंकवाद और नासमझ रक्तपात के ऐसे जघन्य कृत्य, इतिहास के ऐसे क्षण में जब भारत को दुनिया में अहिंसा और शांति के एक ज्वलंत उदाहरण के रूप में देखा जा रहा है, राष्ट्र की सेवा करने के हमारे दृढ़ संकल्प और देशभक्ति को और मजबूत करेंगे।"

प्रो. रिज़वी ने लाल किले में हुए कार विस्फोट की निंदा करते हुए कहा, "ऐसा अमानवीय, दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और बेहद परेशान करने वाला कृत्य न केवल इस महान राष्ट्र के मूल चरित्र पर प्रहार है, बल्कि भारत की राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा पर भी एक बड़ा हमला है। यह इस देश के प्रत्येक नागरिक की सुरक्षा को खतरे में डालता है। ऐसे समय में जब माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी और भारत सरकार भारत की युवा आबादी की क्षमता को उजागर करने और युवाओं पर ध्यान केंद्रित करके और देश के उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों के नवीनीकरण के माध्यम से हमारे मानव संसाधन का लाभ उठाने के लिए अथक प्रयास कर रहे हैं, ऐसे भयावह और नासमझ कृत्य हमें अत्यंत दुखी करते हैं जिसके लिए शब्द कम पड़ जाते हैं। इसके अलावा, सभ्य समाज में हिंसा का कोई स्थान नहीं है।" प्रोफ़ेसर रिज़वी ने आगे कहा, "हम इस कठिन समय में भारत सरकार के साथ हैं और जामिया इन चुनौतियों से पार पाने के लिए शांति और सद्भाव को मज़बूत करता रहेगा। हालाँकि, ऐसी बाधाएँ हमें और करीब लाएँगी और हम एक मज़बूत और अधिक लचीले राष्ट्र के रूप में उभरेंगे जो हमारी प्रगति और विकास में बाधा डालने वाले ऐसे प्रयासों के बावजूद अडिग रहेगा।"

پروفیسر مظہر آصف،شیخ الجامعہ،جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ اور پروفیسر محمد مہتاب عالم رضوی، مسجل،جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ نے دہلی لال قلعہ کے قریب مورخہ دس نومبر دوہزار پچیس کو ہوئے کار دھماکے کی پُرزورزمذمت کی ہے اور معصوم شہریوں اور ملکی سیکوریٹی کو نشانہ بناکر کیے گئے حملے کو ’دہشت گردی کا بزدلانہ اور قبیح عمل بتایا ہے‘۔

پروفیسر آصف نے دہشت گردانہ حملے پر صدمے اور افسوس کا اظہا رکرتے ہوئے جس نے پورے ملک کو ہلادیا کہا کہ”اس طرح کی دہشت گردانہ کاروائیاں اس ملک کی قدروں، اصول اور ہماری ثروت مند تہذیب و تمدن اور امن،ہم آہنگی اور اتحاد کی اقدار کے خلاف ہیں۔ہندوستانی فلسفیوں اور مفکرین نے زمانہ قدیم سے اور عہد حاضر میں خاص طورپر عزت مآب وزیر اعظم شری نریندر مودجی نے ان اقدار کو دنیا بھر میں پھیلایاہے۔بحران کے اس دور میں جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ بھارت سرکار کے ساتھ ہے اور دہشت گردی کی اس کی تمام صورتوں کے خلاف قطعی عدم تحمل کی پالیسی کے اس کے غیر متزلزل عہد کے ساتھ ہے اور اس منحوس دن اپنی جانیں گنوانے والوں کے کنبوں کے لیے ہم گہری ہمدردی اور تعزیت پیش کرتے ہیں۔“

پروفیسر آصف نے مزید کہا کہ ”اس طرح کی دہشت گردی کی کاروائیوں اور بے پروا خوں ریزی، زیادہ عزم اور وطن پرستی کے جذبے کے ساتھ ملک کی خدمت کرنے کے ہمارے عزم کو تقویت دے گی خاص طور پر ایسے حالات میں جب بھارت کو پوری دنیا میں عدم تشدد کے ایک درخشاں ستارے کے طورپر دیکھا جارہاہو۔“

پروفیسر رضوی نے لا ل قلعہ کار دھماکے کی شدید مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہاکہ ”اس طرح کے غیر انسانی،بدقسمت اور سخت پریشان کن حملے صرف اس عظیم ملک کی بنیادی اخلاقیات پر حملہ نہیں بلکہ بھارت کی قومی سیکوریٹی پر بھی حملہ ہیں۔یہ اس ملک کے ہر ایک شہری کے تحفظ اور اس کی سیکوریٹی کو کمزور کرتا ہے۔ایک ایسے وقت میں جب عزت مآب وزیر اعظم شری نریندر مودی جی اور بھارت سرکار، نوجوان آبادی کے صلاحیتوں کو پر دینے کے لیے انتھک کوششیں کررہی ہے اور نوجوانوں اور ملک کے اعلی تعلیمی اداروں کی تزئین و آرائش کی کوششوں پر توجہ مرکوز کرکے ہمارے انسانی وسائل کے لیے مواقع فراہم کررہے ہیں اس طرح کی بیہودہ حرکتیں اور سردمہری بیان سے باہرہیں۔ علاوہ ازیں کسی بھی مہذب سماج میں تشدد کے لیے کوئی جگہ نہیں ہے۔“

پروفیسر رضوی نے مزید کہا کہ ”اس مشکل گھڑی میں ہم سرکار کے ساتھ ہیں اور جامعہ اس طرح کے چیلنجز سے نمٹنے کے لیے امن اور ہم آہنگی کو بدستور مضبوط کرتی رہے گی۔حالاں کہ اس طرح کی شکست ہمیں ایک دوسرے کے مزید قریب لائے گی اور ہم ترقی اوربہبود کی راہ میں رکاوٹوں کے سامنے عزم مصمم کے ساتھ ڈٹے رہیں گے اور زیادہ مضبوط و توانا اور زیادہ لچک دار قوم کے طورپر ابھریں گے۔“
