✨ Sci-Pop Outreach Program at OAV, Bamra, Odisha by PICS✨

A vibrant and inspiring Science Popularization (Sci-Pop) Program was successfully conducted at OAV, Bamra, Odisha, organized by Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology (PICS).

The six-hour immersive program was designed to ignite "cosmic curiosity" and nurture scientific thinking among students.

🔭 Program Highlights:

1-Hour Expert Talk:
Director, PICS, delivered an engaging lecture on the topic “Cosmic Curiosity & Developing Scientific Temper.”
He emphasized questioning, observation, rational inquiry, and the importance of scientific temper in shaping responsible citizens and future innovators.

4 Hours of Stargazing & Sky Observation:
Students experienced hands-on astronomy using three different telescopes (reflector & refractor), observing:

* The 'Sun' (with safe solar filters)
* The 'Moon' with its craters and surface details
* The majestic 'Jupiter' and its Galilean moons

The session included live explanations, sky orientation guidance, laser demonstrations, and interactive discussions that transformed the evening & night sky into a living classroom.

1 Hour Student Interaction & Mobile Apps Stargazing:
An open interaction session allowed students to ask deep questions about the universe, space science, careers science, research, and the philosophy of scientific exploration. Mobile Apps stargazing sessions further connected technology with curiosity.

The enthusiasm of students at OAV Bamra was extraordinary. Their questions reflected a growing spirit of inquiry — the true foundation of a scientific society.

We are proud to share that Prof. Shibesh Kumar Jas Pacif, Founder Director of the Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology (PICS), was invited to deliver a plenary talk at the International Conference on Astrophysics, Gravitation and Cosmology (13–14 February 2026), hosted by the School of Mathematical Sciences, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.

His lecture titled “The Mathematical Universe” inspired engaging discussions and meaningful academic exchange among researchers, scholars, and students. We are grateful to the organizers for the warm appreciation and recognition extended to our leading cosmologist.

📘MoU for Research, Academic, and Science Outreach Collaboration |
DDU Gorakhpur University × PICS Odisha

We are pleased to announce that Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU) and the Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology (PICS), Odisha have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, academics, and science outreach.

The MoU was signed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Poonam Tondon, on behalf of DDUGU, and Prof. Shibesh Kumar Jas Pacif, Director, PICS. This partnership aims to promote joint initiatives in cosmology, gravitation, astrophysics, and other interdisciplinary domains.

It was a privilege to deliver an Invited Talk titled “Cosmology in the 21st Century: Theory, Observations, and the Mystery of Dark Energy” at the Department of Physics, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, organized under the aegis of the IUCAA Centre for Astronomy Research and Development (ICARD) on 21 January 2026.

The talk traced the intellectual journey of cosmology, beginning with its historical foundations and progressing toward modern frontiers. Classical ideas such as the Big Bang theory, Steady State theory, and the Milne model were discussed, followed by contemporary paradigms including inflationary cosmology, dark energy models, and the fundamental framework of Einstein’s General Relativity, all interpreted in the light of 21st-century precision cosmological observations.

Beyond equations and datasets, the discussion emphasized how cosmology advances through the dynamic interplay of theory, observation, and critical questioning, where deep unresolved questions often open doors to interdisciplinary science, rather than marking the limits of understanding.

I sincerely thank all members of the audience for their active participation. I am especially grateful to Prof. Santanu Rastogi, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Prof. Prabhunath, Mr. Sachindra Nath (Vratino Tech), Mr. Amar Pal (Taramandal, Gorakhpur), and research scholars Shubham and Aftab for their warm welcome, excellent coordination, and support. Heartfelt appreciation also goes to all the enthusiastic scholars and students whose curiosity, questions, and engagement made the interaction intellectually enriching and inspiring.

The Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology (PICS) conducted a Mobile Planetarium Outreach Program at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Bamra, as part of its ongoing mission to promote scientific literacy and experiential learning in schools.

The program provided students with an immersive exposure to astronomy and cosmology, enabling them to visualize celestial phenomena, understand fundamental cosmic processes, and appreciate the scale and structure of the Universe. Such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening STEM education, fostering scientific temper, and bridging the gap between formal curriculum and contemporary scientific understanding.

PICS is grateful to the school leadership and faculty for their support and collaboration in making this outreach activity meaningful and impactful. We look forward to expanding such programs to more institutions and communities.

🌿A Moment of Gratitude & Reflection🌿

Dr. Shibesh Kumar Jas Pacif, Founder Director & Professor, Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology (PICS), Sambalpur, was invited as a "Special Guest" to the "Annual Day Celebration 2026" of his alma mater — "PM SHRI Govt. Higher Secondary School, Garposh (Garposh P.H. School)".

The institution where he pursued his high school education during 1992–1995, and where his academic journey began, welcomed him back — not as a student, but as a scientist and academician. The occasion was marked by a sense of humility and gratitude towards his teachers, the school, and the education system that contributed to shaping his intellectual and personal development.

Addressing the students, Dr. Shibesh emphasized the importance of cultivating "scientific temper, curiosity, critical thinking, and rational inquiry" — not merely for academic achievement, but as essential foundations for modern education, responsible citizenship, and conscious living.

PICS sincerely acknowledges and thanks the school management, faculty, and students of PM SHRI Govt. Higher Secondary School, Garposh, for the warm welcome, respect, and meaningful engagement. INVITED TALK DELIVERSED BY PICS FACULTY

An online invited talk titled “From Cosmos to Consciousness: An Interdisciplinary Approach with STEM” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Shibesh Kumar Jas Pacif, Founder Director & Professor, Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology (PICS), Sambalpur, Odisha, India, at the Faculty Development Program (FDP) organized by the Marik Institute of Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics & Cybernetics, NIMS University, Jaipur on 11 January 2026, under the theme “Emerging Trends in Convergence Technologies.”

The lecture emphasized the need to move beyond fragmented disciplinary boundaries toward integrative and holistic frameworks of knowledge. Key areas addressed included cosmology and the exploration of the universe, the limitations of disciplinary silos, multidisciplinary–interdisciplinary–transdisciplinary approaches, the physical, psychological and consciousness dimensions of inquiry, and Selfology as a scientific exploration of the Self, with PICS presented as a transdisciplinary initiative.

The interaction with faculty members from diverse academic domains was enriching and highlighted the growing importance of convergence not only among technologies, but also among knowledge systems and human understanding.

Appreciation is extended to NIMS University and the FDP organizing team for the invitation and for facilitating this meaningful academic exchange.
