The institution has always been responsive to the ever-changing features of education and accordingly introduced the courses with an objective of giving the students the benefit of knowledge, information and skills. The institution, in the process has always encouraged the faculty to gear up to the needs. It introduced a variety of conventional and vocational courses in Arts, Science and Commerce

at Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels, always attracting students from rural and urban areas. were opened in 1988 for the benefit of the students. Going with the times, the college introduced Vocational and restructured courses, which are mainly employment oriented. New Courses with one of the subjects like Computer Science & Computer Applications, Industrial Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Electronics and Statistics were started in the college with a good infrastructure. As on today the college is offering 19 UG Courses. The self financed UG Courses were introduced in 1998-99 and since then they have come to stay and attract many young talents in and around Nizamabad. The quality of teaching, well-equipped Labs and affordable fee structure are important features for the continued popularity of these self-financing courses. BioTechnology, Microbiology, BioChemistry and Electronics courses are the lead courses. These Departments have shown a remarkable and rapid growth in quality and quantity. Girraj Govt. College was started in 1956 as a private college with Pre-University and Under Graduate Courses with an objective of providing quality education to the needy students of Nizamabad region. Many philanthropists including Sri Girrajmalji Aggarwal gave a helping hand through donations to start this institution in a humble way. It was taken over by State Government in 1959 and since then has been gradual but steady development. It moved into the present premises in 1967-68 after State Govt. constructed a huge building in about 29.6 acres of campus. The college is affiliated to Osmania University and has successfully made a distinct mark as a premier institution of higher learning.
