AKF Access Program -6 students celebrated Thanksgiving Day on Saturday the 27th with all the batches. The lesson on Thanksgiving was used.
First the prior knowledge was elicited. Then there was group reading. In groups of 3-4 the class went through the lesson, word meanings and song. In the end they presented the summary and song. As an activity and homework, they must make cards and write 8-10 things they are grateful for (God, parents, family, community etc). Students learnt everything related to the occasion in a way that made them even more curious, thus asking the ‘WH’ questions like, ‘Where is it celebrated?’, ‘Why is this day celebrated?’, ‘When is it celebrated?’ and ‘How is it celebrated?’. The students were not only curious and looking forward to the answers to their questions, but also were excited about the fun filled activities that made the day even more exciting. To begin with we played various virtual games in which the children participated enthusiastically for e.g., ‘Virtual Scavenger Hunt’. Batch 3 – The students celebrated Thanksgiving by learning the origin and reason for the festival. They on Near pod they wrote about all the things they are thankful for as well as all the things that made them happy. They had a quiz on the same as well as they drew hand turkeys.
Batch 4 - Thanksgiving celebrated with activities and learning. The students made presentations on all they are thankful about. Hand art and innovative turkeys were also designed.

Children's day was celebrated with much enthusiasm by all the batches of the Aga Khan Nizamuddin Access Programme on the 13th of November at Sunder Nursery. The students participated in activities like:
Fruit salad- a fun kinesthetic warmer.
A-Z Dictionary in which they had to collect things and make a dictionary. The team to report first won the game.
Shrinking vessels- in this the area on which two students stood and danced kept reducing. The last team standing was the winner.
JAM- just a minute.
In the end the students were treated to pizzas and guava juice. They went back with a plant in a colourful pot as a gift. It was a fun day in which all the batches got to interact.

The Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by the AKF Access Program students on the 2nd October.
Batch #2 had a debate on His ideologies and struggles. The views, opinions as well as answers from the learners were with a different flavor & logics. They even created presentations/ poetry too. Later we watched a short movie on the same.
Batch #3 celebrated by learning Mahatma’s life, struggle, beliefs, writing & contribution to the Indian freedom struggle. You tube was a great resource for gathering information to make a mind map in order to form an article, Gandhi ji’s posters were drawn with suitable quotes.

Batch #4 lead in with an appropriate vocabulary word related to the same, this opened up their minds for brainstorming further, they had a brilliant understanding about this great man. Thus, I gave them a free hand to create something to pay their respect/ regard to Mahatma Gandhi ji…. below are some of their amazing creations.

The International Day of Peace (United Nations) was celebrated by the AKF Access Program students on the 21st of September.
In Batch-2, the students were in white attire which reflected peace. The questions posed to them were:
• “Is peace possible in this world?”
• “What does peace mean to you?”
The answers were very interesting, and the discussion continued wherein other facts about International Peace Day like the theme, history etc were discussed. They enthusiastically shared their views and opinions on Peace, thus making it a nice and interactive session. International Day of Peace was celebrated by Batch 3 and 4 at SN. Lead in with an introduction and an energizer (a vocabulary game); later peace symbols were introduced with which learners created a peace string individually. Finally, peace pinwheels were also made by them. It was a fun and learning session.
Students also made cards with their thoughts on “Peace”.
Finally in Batch 1 the students read about International Peace Day, answered questions to check comprehension (Quiz), and learnt some new words, meanings and usage. There was a discussion on the meaning of the peace, what does it mean to them and how can they promote it with their small actions. As a kinesthetic activity they made origami doves which are a symbol of peace. Lastly, they sang a song- “Teaching Peace”.

International Literacy Day (8th September).
AKF – Access Program students came to know the importance of the International Literacy Day.
It's history; timeline etc.
People who invented alphabets, printing press, writing etc.
Learners explored how some of the normal people came up in life due to education.
Later they brainstormed ideas how they could help others on a smaller platform. ( Reading to someone; creating story board; old books library etc).
Finally created some posters to worth admiring.

Happy Teacher’s Day.
AKF-Access Program students celebrated “Teacher’s Day” with a lot of enthusiasm.
The student’s prepared nice program and presented their activities, thoughts and emotions through PPT.
The main objective of these activities was cooperation, teamwork, and autonomy. It was creative, fun, and even funny! A wonderful way to get feedback from them. It filled our hearts with joy to see the confidence and fluency in English of the Access students. They prepared greeting cards, wrote poems, sang songs, organised some games and activities for the teachers.
Access Program (Batch 4) - girls students conducted a very beautiful program for her teacher, which comprised of poetry, their initial experiences; videos (self-created); songs; greeting cards; Acrostic poetry; last but not the least they even organised online games. All together it was a moment of happiness and pride for everyone.
