Forum of Safe Schools (FoSS) is a forum of School establishment, regulatory bodies, Parent-teachers Associations, Law Associations, Judiciary bodies and Civil Societies. Varied senior-members from these above institutions joined this colloquial-body which is intending to design and develop policies and programs to protect and safeguard school-children from all forms of atrocities and sexual harass

ments and life-threatening situations. As educators, as parents, as citizens, we know that young people do better at school and in life if they attend schools where they feel welcome and safe. Children spend a large part of their day in schools and while travelling to and from their schools. Their safety during this time is exceedingly important. Cases come up from time to time of abuse of children at the school premises, or even accidents that could have been easily prevented with just a simple system in place and a little extra care. For every case reported, there are many others that go unreported. There is a clear and significant role each school has to play in the Prevention, Reporting and Handling of Child Abuse, and other safety-related accidents during the time children are entrusted to the care of the school. The School Board of Directors, Principals and Senior Management teams have primary responsibility for the care and welfare of their students. Teachers are the main care-givers to children outside the family and play a key role in ensuring their safety, while grooming them to cope with threats to their personal safety. What we do : FoSS is an advisory group. It shares knowledge and provides advice to the schools and or to the School Board on school safety related matters. It also offers a customized suite of resources and support to equip school staff with knowledge, skills and practical ideas to create safer and more inclusive school environments for students, staff and families. We work together with schools from a range of diverse contexts to tailor support that meets the needs of their school community. This includes government, Semi-private, private schools, schools in diverse geographic locations, and faith-based schools.
