A two-day workshop was successfully organized by IQAC, GC Nerwa on 24th and 25th April 2026 in the Zoology Lecture Hall to orient the teaching staff on HPU’s implementation of NEP 2020 and the curriculum changes for the upcoming academic session.

The workshop began with an inaugural address by the Hon’ble Principal, Dr. H. L. Sharma, who highlighted the significance of adapting to the evolving educational framework.

On the first day, faculty representatives from each stream presented an overview of the broader curriculum changes: Dr. Arun Dafraik (Arts), Dr. Vikas Suman (Science), and Prof. Aradhana Negi (Commerce).

The second day was dedicated to subject-specific presentations, where faculty members shared detailed insights into the revised curriculum of their respective disciplines.

The workshop served as an important platform for academic discussion, clarity, and preparedness for the effective implementation of NEP 2020 at the college level.

Government College Nerwa proudly shares that Dr. Vikas Suman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, has been recognized by Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, for his commendable academic and research contributions.

Dr. Vikas Suman has been appointed as a Ph.D. Supervisor for the academic session 2025–26. This achievement reflects his dedication to teaching, research, and academic excellence in the field of Zoology.

He has published several research papers in journals of national and international repute. He has also undergone one-month academic training at Virginia Tech University, USA. Further, in January 2026, he presented his research work at international conferences in Thailand, highlighting his active engagement at the global academic level.

In his new role, Dr. Suman will guide doctoral scholars, contributing significantly to research development and strengthening the academic environment.

The Principal, staff, and students of the college extend their heartfelt congratulations to him on this notable achievement.

On 04/04/2026, Govt College Nerwa conducted a Disaster Management Mock Drill. First, Prof. Varinder Thakur, AP Hindi, demonstrated the use of fire extinguishers to the students. Then, a mock drill was conducted in which the students actively participated and were trained on evacuation procedures and safety measures. The drill was carried out in a coordinated manner to simulate emergency conditions and ensure preparedness among students and staff. Additionally, the alarm system currently used for examinations was tested as a possible disaster management alarm to assess its effectiveness in emergency situations.

Government College Nerwa proudly congratulates Mr. Nishant, a student of B.Sc. (Chemistry) Final Year, for his remarkable achievement of qualifying the IIT JAM 2026 examination and securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 2728.

With this accomplishment, he will be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Chemistry in prestigious institutions such as the IITs.

Annual Function Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm at Government College Nerwa

Nerwa, March 16, 2026

The Annual Function at Government College Nerwa was celebrated today with great joy and enthusiasm. The event was graced by the Principal, Dr. Harbans Lal Sharma, as the Chief Guest, while the Vice-Principal, Prof. Balveer Sagar Kalsaik, attended as the Guest of Honour.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by vibrant cultural performances by students, including Pahari Nati, Punjabi Bhangra, Rajasthani Dandiya, Gujarati Garba, and Bollywood dance performances. Traditional Pahari folk songs such as “Banka Mulk Himachal,” “Shuki Chiy Re,” “Banane Takhte,” “Surma,” and “Shukru Meta” created a mesmerizing atmosphere, compelling the audience to join in the celebration with great enthusiasm.

On this occasion, the Principal presented the Annual Report of the college, highlighting achievements in academics, cultural activities, sports, and other areas throughout the year. He shared that the academic performance of the college has shown consistent improvement. The undergraduate (UG) results over the past three years have been 62%, 68%, and 73%, while postgraduate (PG) results have reached an impressive 63%, 68%, and 75%.

During the programme, students who excelled in various fields were honored. A total of 108 students were awarded for academic excellence, 68 for co-curricular activities, 71 for sports achievements, 8 students selected for Agniveer, and 28 CSCA office bearers were felicitated with mementos and certificates. Additionally, students actively involved in clubs and societies such as the Road Safety Club, Eco Club, Red Ribbon Club, Rovers & Rangers, NSS, and other co-curricular activities were also recognized for their outstanding contributions.

In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of education, discipline, and continuous hard work, encouraging students to set high goals in life. The Guest of Honour also guided the students to adopt a positive outlook and fulfill their responsibilities towards society.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Vikas Suman, who expressed gratitude to all the guests, faculty members, staff, and students for their presence and support.

The event was attended by faculty members including Prof. Sanjeev Justa, Prof. Seema Justa, Prof. Dinesh Sharma, Prof. Varun Sood, Dr. Rohit Rehal, Prof. Amandeep, Prof. Kalyan Sharma, Prof. Virender Thakur, Prof. Dalip Sharma, Prof. Aradhana Negi, Superintendent Madan Gopal Chauhan, Harish Sharma, and the entire college family.

Government College Nerwa celebrated International Women’s Day on 7 March 2026, as 8 March fell on Sunday. The program aimed to spread awareness about women’s empowerment, equality, and the important role of women in society.
The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by faculty members, marking the formal inauguration of the event.
Various competitions and cultural activities were organized for students, including Solo Song, Solo Dance, Duo Dance, Declamation, Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and Folk Performance. Students actively participated in these events and showcased their creativity, talent, and awareness on issues related to women’s rights and empowerment.
The declamation competition allowed students to express their views on women’s empowerment, while the poster and slogan competitions conveyed meaningful messages promoting equality and respect for women. The dance, song, and folk performances added cultural vibrancy to the celebration.
Faculty members served as judges for the competitions and evaluated the performances. At the end of the program, winners were announced and appreciated, and participation of all students was acknowledged.
The celebration concluded successfully, creating awareness among students about the importance of respecting and empowering women in society.

Science Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at Government College Nerwa

Government College Nerwa celebrated Science Day on 28/02/2026 with great enthusiasm and joy by organizing a variety of academic and creative competitions. The main objective of the program was to promote scientific temper, innovation, and creativity among students.

On this occasion, Rangoli, PPT Presentation, Poster Making, and Model Making competitions were conducted. The results are as follows:

Rangoli Competition:
Bhavna and Heena secured the first position, Jyoti and Mehak stood second, while Munish and Yanshu achieved third place.

PPT Competition:
Tejaswini Rudri secured the first position, Rajesh stood second, and Munish obtained third place.

Poster Making Competition:
Bhavna secured the first position, Mehak stood second, and Swati achieved third place.

Model Making Competition:
Rajesh and Manoj secured the first position, Meenakshi and Rudri stood second, while Nishant and Sheetal achieved third place.

The event was graced by the presence of Vice-Principal Prof. Balveer Sagar. Head of the Department of Botany, Dr. Vikas Suman, along with Prof. Narendra Negi, Prof. Sanjeev Justa, Prof. Seema Justa, Prof. Dinesh Sharma, Prof. Aman Deep, Dr. Rohit Rehal, Prof. Varun Sood, Prof. Virender Thakur, Prof. Kalyan Sharma, Prof. Dalip Sharma, Prof. Aradhana Negi, and all faculty members and staff were present on the occasion.

At the conclusion of the program, the teachers congratulated the winners and wished them a bright future. Students were encouraged to continue nurturing curiosity and a spirit of research in the field of science. The event concluded successfully.
