Money shapes the world our children are growing up in. But do they really understand it?
If your child has ever wondered why we use money, or why things cost what they do, this workshop is a chance to explore those questions through play.
This workshop invites children aged 7–12 years to discover how people traded in the past, how goods travel, and how ideas like demand, scarcity, and fairness shape everyday choices.
It’s an introduction to understanding value, choices, and the invisible systems that shape everyday life.

How do locals in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai celebrate Holi? 🌿🔥
In many Koli and Agri communities, the story begins at the Holi Mal, where children collect wood and branches and the community builds a bonfire around a decorated figure of Holi Mata.
But what does this fire really mean? And why is it about more than just celebration?
Find out in today’s Local Gyan comic:
“Holi Mal: Celebrating Holi the Local Way”
In collaboration with Gajanan Mhatre.

Mumbai and Navi Mumbai’s cherry blossom moment is capturing hearts, but it isn’t quite what it seems. 🌸
The Basant Rani, planted across the city for shade and beauty, has become a beloved symbol of spring. But it isn’t native to this ecosystem, and that comes with consequences.
The good news? We’re learning from the past. Between 2021 and 2023, MCGM and NMMC prioritised indigenous tree planting, adding over 120,000 native trees across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. 🌱
Curious to know why native trees matter?
Check out this comic made in collaboration with EcoSprouts.

The Local Gyan Manifesto
Learning escapes classrooms and spills into real life.
What if children learned with their hands first—touching, building, discovering?
What if curiosity led the way—questions first, answers later?
What if the city became the textbook and the classroom?
What if learning felt alive—not memorised, but truly experienced?
What if kids became our teachers—observant, honest, endlessly curious?
What if messy was a good sign—because something real just happened?
What if play was serious work—and joy was meaningful data?
What if learning happened across ages—not just inside pages?
What if local was powerful—not small, but deeply rooted?
In 2025, Local Gyan workshops brought this thinking to life -
hands-on, place-based learning that helps children remember what textbooks attempt. We look forward to 2026 with the same set of dreamy eyes.
