The Times School Parliament 2014 lived up to its reputation of being the most awaited event in schools' calendar. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation's Town Hall was packed not only with almost 200 students, but also with an endless reservoir of enthusiastic energy.

As students debated the bill to ban school uniforms, the passion and conviction of speakers was evident. The audience, which comprised of students, teachers and principals was amazed to see how well the students debated during the open house session.

Schools which made their first appearance in Times School Parliament this year were elated to see the electric environment inside the Town Hall as students gave their all to make their point in the debate. Shubra Roy, coordinator for Somalwar (Ramdaspeth), said, "It was an amazing experience for all of us. Students enjoyed the entire event and are extremely happy that they participated." LC Coutinho, principal of Edify School, too shared the same excitement. "We have to thank TOI for this fantastic opportunity to all schools. Students enjoyed every bit of their time here. It was so nice to see the kids talk so well about the topic and put their point forward so articulately. Also, the presence of dignitaries like the city's mayor, municipal commissioner, leader of opposition etc helped as they gave a speech sharing their experience as policy makers in the civic body. Overall we are very pleased for the opportunity," said Coutinho. Suchita Mate, coordinator for Kendriya Vidyalaya (Ajni), said, "Students had a great time and their confidence level reflected clearly while debating on the floor of the house."

Chetna Tank, chairman of the NMC's education committee, said, "These experiences are very important for students as it gives them a much needed exposure." Coordinator for NMC's Dattatraya Nagar school, Geeta Dandekar, said, "This is the first time I am coming to Times School Parliament and am struggling for words to describe the amazing experience we all had. First and foremost, we are happy that we got a chance to compete with private schools and put up a good show. One of the NMC students got the best speaker award as well and that helped everyone's confidence. It was a surprise for us also to see how our students transformed themselves into aggressive speakers and did not back down even while being countered during the debate." The other school of NMC was the Ram Manohar Lohia branch and its coordinator, Ratna Mende, said, "This debate was an experience which has no comparison with anything. The students were extremely happy to be participating in such a vibrant debate and they loved to contribute to the event." S Dasgupta, coordinator for Narayana Vidyalayam, said, "Everyone had a great time and the students were delighted to be part of the event. We are thankful to TOI for organizing such a fantastic event."

Our Proud winners of the singing competetion..

Narayana Vidhyalayam has won Rajaram Sitaram singing competition for 4th consecutive time and recieved a cash price of Rs 2000. The proud winners who brought us the price are Dhananjay Joshi (Head Boy), Satyaki Tatte, Shashank Kapse, Atharva Bhalerao and Nikhil Singh and among the girls Parvati Nair, Devika Nair and co. .

In the competitions organised as a part of National Science celebration-2014 by the Raman Science Centre @ Planetrium, Nagpur.....Narayana Vidhyalayam Students did extremely well....In the elocution competetion for high school students, Garima Batra 2nd position and Dhananjay Joshi secured consolation prize for their speech on the topic 'mission to mars-mangalyaan'. In the science slogan writing competition for students, Aditi Kalambe got consolation prize. The topics for slogan writing were 'Science for society', 'Save girl child', Prevention of pollution'. The students were allowed to write the slogans in three languages- English,Hindi and Marathi. The management of the school has congratulated the principal Mala Chembath, the students and teachers for their achievement....
