World Diabetes Day Awareness Initiative

India is facing a serious diabetes burden. According to recent estimates, several million adults in the country are living with diabetes, with prevalence especially high in urban areas.

The condition is often described as a “silent” lifestyle-related disease because it can progress without obvious symptoms in its early stages. Key contributing factors include:
1) sedentary lifestyles
2) unhealthy dietary habits
3) high stress levels

Recognising the growing threat diabetes poses to public health, H.K. College of Pharmacy marked World Diabetes Day on 14 November 2026 through a community awareness effort.

Students reached out to neighbouring communities to raise awareness about:
1) the disease and its effects
2) preventive measures
3) the importance of early diagnosis
