The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with immense patriotic fervour at O.P. Jindal School, Angul, with the campus echoing with “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” Under the stewardship of Principal Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sahu, the National Flag was hoisted with pride, with a vibrant Prabhat Pheri in early morning. Students Debanshi, Sakshat, Zaina, Aditya and Satanshi Behera delivered inspiring speeches, recalling our Hon’ble Chairman Shri Naveen Jindal’s inspiring struggle for the dignity and rightful display of the National Flag and highlighting the Tricolour as a symbol of freedom, unity and sacrifice.
Students and staff later joined the central celebration at the Sports Complex, graced by Shri Rajiv Kumar, COO, Shri Damodar Mittal, Executive Director (Projects), Shri Hridayeshwar Jha, Executive Director (Special Projects), Brig. Dinesh Sharma, Head SFSS, Shri Subhash Chander, Head HR, and Swami Satyabindu Saraswati. The students enthralled the gathering with patriotic dances, while Mr. Vivek Mishra, PGT English, anchored the programme. The celebration was a vibrant tribute to patriotism, unity and pride in the Tricolour.

The Foundational Stage of OPJS Angul celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm today through a host of patriotic and creative activities, including 'Freedom Colour Hunt', 'My Tricolour Making', colouring activity on “My India, My Pride”, speeches on freedom fighters, patriotic dance and group songs. The young Jindalites participated with joy and enthusiasm, developing an understanding of India’s freedom and national pride. Principal Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sahu addressed the children and inspired them to love their nation, respect its values and grow into responsible citizens. The celebration beautifully nurtured the spirit of patriotism, unity and pride in the nation.

OPJS Angul takes immense pride in celebrating the remarkable achievements of its students in the different competitions. Our young athletes brought laurels by winning one Silver and two Bronze Medals at the CBSE Far East Zone Boxing Championship, with Prince Garnayak and Tamojet Ghosh earning National Level selections after their medal-winning performances in Boxing and Athletics.
In the Inter-School Art, Cultural & Literary Competitions, our students secured 1st position in Web Designing, Drawing & Painting, English Debate and Group Dance, along with a 3rd position in Drawing & Painting (senior category).
At the District Level Competitions, Paridhi Swain secured 1st position in Patriotic Song, while A***n Dehury won 2nd position in Odia Elocution. These accomplishments reflect the students’ talent, hard work, confidence and all-round excellence, making the entire OPJS family immensely proud. OPJS, Angul, successfully conducted the Inter-House Swimming Competition today at the swimming pool inside the Sports Complex of our campus, a one-of-its-kind facility in the entire region. Students from classes 3 to 12 participated with great zeal, discipline, and sportsmanship, showcasing their aquatic skills and competitive spirit. The winners were felicitated by our Principal, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sahu, while enthusiastic parents & staff members cheered and encouraged the young swimmers. The event was successfully coordinated by the Sports Department of our school. Our school provides world-class sporting facilities to young learners, nurturing their talents and supporting their holistic growth and development through sports too.

The Founder's Day-2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at OPJS, Angul today through special assemblies in all Wings of the school. Rich tributes were offered to our revered Babuji Shri O. P. Jindal Ji as students highlighted his illustrious life, remarkable achievements, and inspiring vision through speeches, a welcome song, and a classical dance performance. Our Special Guest of the day, Swami Satyabindu Saraswati, spoke about Babuji's visionary leadership and inspiring life. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the Principal, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sahu, who urged everyone to draw inspiration from Babuji's ideals and carry forward his legacy.
Adding to the spirit of the celebration, a was played between the Principal's Student-XI and the Vice Principal's Staff-XI at the magnificent sports complex of our campus. The Student-XI emerged victorious with a 2–1 win, showcasing excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
As a meaningful tribute to Babuji's vision of sustainable development and environmental stewardship, the NCC Wings of our school also organized a on the occasion.

An International Poem Recitation Activity on the theme "Water, My Friend" was conducted on 5th August 2026 for the students of Classes III and IV at O.P. Jindal School, Angul, Odisha, India. Representing India, Bangladesh, Ghana, and Saudi Arabia, the students delivered inspiring poems on water conservation with confidence, creativity, expressive voice modulation, and colourful costumes. The activity promoted environmental awareness and global understanding, reinforcing the powerful message: "Every Drop Counts, Every Action Matters!" The event was coordinated by Ms. Sudha Ojha , the Project Leader.

The students of Class V of our school enthusiastically participated in the International Poem Competition on the theme "One Sky, Many Nations: Air Pollution." The event celebrated cultural diversity and environmental awareness as students confidently recited poems in Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, and Chinese, showcasing their creativity and linguistic skills, dressed in traditional attire representing different countries. Their performances conveyed the powerful message that, despite our different languages and cultures, we all share one sky and a collective responsibility to protect it from air pollution. The programme was successfully coordinated by the Project Leader, Ms. Afrina Jabeen.

O.P. Jindal School, Angul, organised its Investiture Ceremony with great enthusiasm at Eden Garden, Jindal Nagar, Anugul. The event was graced by Col. Sudip Majee, Vice President and Head of Administration, Jindal Steel, as the Chief Guest, and Col. Pranav Vaish, Chief Security Officer, as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by Principal Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sahu, a welcome song, school band group performance and a graceful Odissi dance performance. A total of 74 student leaders from Classes V, VIII, XI, and XII, representing Azad, Raman, Ramanujan, and Sarojini Houses, were formally inducted and administered the oath of office. Students who excelled in the CBSE Games were also felicitated with medals. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl, inspiring students to uphold the values of leadership, discipline, and service.
