Institution Innovation Council- Smvitm, Bantakal

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management in association with the the institution’s Innovation Council and ISTE student chapter has organized an invited talk on “Recent Innovations in Energy Conversion, Conservation, and Storage” on the National Energy Conservation Day on 14 December 2024.
Dr. Arun Kumar H. S., Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, MIT, Manipal was the resource person for the program.

On November 27, 2024, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SMVITM, in collaboration with the ISTE Student Chapter and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, organized an engaging industry visit to KARMIC Design Private Ltd., Manipal. Renowned as a leader in the semiconductor design and development industry, KARMIC provided students with a remarkable opportunity to experience the real-world applications of their academic knowledge.

The co-curricular Committee, Hobby Project Club, in association with IIC and EDC of SMVITM, organized Ideathon-2K24 for SMVITM students on 10 October 2024.
The event was conducted for two categories. Category I for first—and second-year students took place in the Library Block Seminar Hall, and category II for third—and fourth-year students took place in the Admin Block Seminar Hall.
The Ideaathon commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Dhanya Shetty of AIML in the Admin Block. She greeted both participants and judges, Mr. Raghavendra G S from the Computer Science Engineering department and Mr. Madhusoodan Rao from the Civil Department. She provided clear instructions to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for everyone involved.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SMVITM, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council, hosted a Session on Problem Solving and Ideation Workshop on November 27, 2024. The session featured Dr. C K Manjunath, Head training and placement department, SMVITM Bantakal as the resource person.
Dr. Manjunath began by emphasizing the importance of problem-solving as a core skill for personal and professional success. He highlighted that ideation, or the ability to generate creative and innovative solutions, is key to standing out in today's competitive world.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SMVITM in association with the Institution's Innovation Council has organized an “Invited talk on “Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity” on 21st September 2024. Dr. Inv. Shivakiran Makam Innovator | Startup Ecosystem Enabler| Mentor| Advisor Director, Section Infin-8 Foundation, Co-Chair, Alliance Team, Start-up 20 Engagement Group, G20 Advisor, IFIA-Bharat was the resource person of the program.
The resource person for this event was Dr. Inv. Shivakiran Makam, a prominent figure in the startup ecosystem and a dedicated mentor. Dr. Makam is the Director of Section Infin-8 Foundation, Co-Chair of the Alliance Team for the Start-up 20 Engagement Group under G20, and an advisor at IFIA-Bharat. With extensive experience in nurturing startups and fostering innovation, Dr. Makam shared his insights on how aspiring entrepreneurs can leverage their skills and creativity to succeed.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SMVITM, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council, hosted an invited talk titled “My Story—Motivational Session by Successful Entrepreneur/Start-up Founder” on November 11, 2024. The session featured Mr. Yajnesh from Vrisharya Technologies Pvt. Ltd. as the resource person.
During his speech, Mr. Yajnesh shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing several key themes:
Overcoming Challenges: He spoke candidly about the hurdles he faced while establishing his startup, highlighting the importance of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.
Innovation and Creativity: Mr. Yajnesh encouraged attendees to embrace innovative thinking and creativity as essential components for success in entrepreneurship. He discussed how unique ideas can lead to significant market opportunities.
Learning from Failure: He stressed that failures are not the end but rather learning experiences that contribute to personal and professional growth. His message was clear: embracing failure is crucial for eventual success.
Networking and Collaboration: Mr. Yajnesh highlighted the importance of building a strong network and collaborating with others in the industry, which can provide invaluable support and resources for entrepreneurs.
Practical Skills: The session also focused on practical skills necessary for starting and running a business, including strategic planning, financial management, and effective communication.
The event aimed to inspire young prospective entrepreneurs by providing them with real-world insights and motivational guidance from someone who has successfully navigated the startup landscape. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions and share their own experiences, fostering an interactive environment conducive to learning and networking
Ms. Usha Parvathi, Senior Asst. Professor in the Dept. of Physics, welcomed the gathering. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bharath Bhat, Assistant Professor (SG) in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SMVITM, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council, hosted a session on My Story—Motivational Session by Successful Innovators on 06th December 2024. The session featured Mr. Satvik Bhat & Mr. Sumedh Navuda, 3rd-year computer science department, SMVITM Bantakal as the resource persons.
The session featured Mr. Satvik Bhat and Mr. Sumedh Navuda, dynamic 3rd-year students from the Computer Science Department of SMVITM, Bantakal. Their success stories as innovators and budding entrepreneurs served as a beacon of inspiration for the audience.
The speakers shared their incredible journey, beginning with identifying a problem, ideating solutions, and successfully implementing innovative projects. They emphasized the importance of persistence, creativity, and leveraging technology to solve real-world challenges. Despite being students themselves, their achievements and determination resonated strongly with their peers.
Key highlights of the session included:
Inspiration through innovation: Both speakers detailed their approach to identifying unmet needs and converting them into opportunities.
Lessons from failures: They candidly discussed the hurdles they faced and the lessons they learned along the way.
Future aspirations: They spoke about their vision for scaling innovations and their passion for contributing to society through technology.
The event was interactive, with students enthusiastically engaging in a Q&A session to learn more about the speakers' experiences and strategies for overcoming challenges.
This event was yet another step by SMVITM towards nurturing creativity and innovation among students, aligning with its mission to empower future leaders and change-makers.

He also informed the students that the problems in the society lead to generation of different ideas. The students should have innovative mindset and perseverance to achieve something in life.

Mr. Revanakar also explained the importance of analyzing the idea, market study, and validation of ideas.

The resource person also conducted various activities in which the students participated actively.

The Entrepreneurship Development cell in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council of SMVITM conducted a industry visit to Blackfrog Technologies, Manipal on 12/08/2023 to the interested students of SMVITM.
Mr. Mayur Shetty, Chief Executive & Product Architect at his young age started this startup and transformed it into a company.
Blackfrog Technologies produces a Portable temperature-regulated carrier for the transport of biologicals. Blackfrog Tech has developed Emvólio- a patented rapid cooling technology for safe last-mile transport of vaccines, insulin, breast milk, blood serums, medications & specimens with minimal thermal shock. The product is eco-friendly and compliant with IEC 60601 medical device standards.

The Students of SMVITM interacted with Mr. Prajwal V Kumar, Production Manager, motivated towards becoming an entrepreneur.
Dr. Madhukar Nayak and Mr. Vighnesh Shenoy, the faculty coordinators of ED Cell accompanied the students.

The Entrepreneurship Development cell of SMVITM has conducted an awareness Quiz on the occasion of World Entrepreneur Day on 22/08/2023 in the institute to create awareness of entrepreneurship among the budding Engineers of SMVITM
