“500 Miles” is a traditional folk song that became globally popular during the 1960s American folk revival, especially through artists like Joan Baez and Peter, Paul & Mary. The song captures a universal emotion: the loneliness of being far from home and the fear of not being able to return. Its strength lies in its simplicity and minimal instrumentation.
The melody traveled across continents and is widely recognized as the musical inspiration behind the Hindi song “Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaye” from the 1990 film Jurm. The Indian version reimagined the tune into a romantic, emotional ballad, turning it into an evergreen Bollywood classic loved across generations.

If self-love feels selfish, pause before you retreat from it.
Ask yourself whether the guilt is coming from your values or from an old habit of self-denial.
Then choose one small act of ease today, without justifying it, explaining it, or making up for it later.
That’s how self-respect begins. ♥️
Let’s live guilt-free together. Follow for more.

Satyajit Ray received the Academy Honorary Award (Lifetime Achievement Oscar) in 1992, recognizing his profound contribution to world cinema and storytelling.
A visionary filmmaker, writer, composer, and illustrator, Ray redefined Indian cinema by bringing deeply human, realistic, and emotionally layered stories to the global stage. Through films like the Apu Trilogy and many others, he portrayed ordinary lives with extraordinary sensitivity, shaping parallel cinema and influencing generations of filmmakers worldwide.
Even while critically ill, he accepted the award remotely from his hospital bed in Calcutta, in what became one of the most moving moments in Oscar history. His legacy continues to define artistic integrity till date.
What a true legend ♥️

When we were younger, we were always waiting to grow up so that we could finally experience freedom. What we didn’t realise at the time was, we were already living some of the freest moments of our lives in our childhood. As we grow older, the world doesn’t trap us as much as our own thoughts, expectations, and fears do. This poem reflects on that shift: on how freedom slowly changes shape as we grow. It is not about grand nostalgia or perfect memories, but about the simple, golden moments that stay with us long after we leave them behind.
