International Yoga Day Celebration 2026

Theme: “Yoga for Wellness, Heritage Preservation and Responsible Citizenship.”

Sathaye College with 8 Maharashtra Girls Battalion Mumbai celebrated International Yoga Day through a three-phase programme conducted at *College Turf, Sion Fort, and Bandra Fort*. The event aimed to promote the importance of yoga, physical and mental well-being, and create awareness about preserving historical monuments. Prior permission was obtained from the *Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Mumbai Circle* to conduct yoga sessions at Sion Fort and Bandra Fort. The programme highlighted the role of students and NCC cadets in protecting heritage sites and spreading awareness about their conservation.

The event began with an opening address by *Dr. Madhav Rajwade, Principal of Sathaye College*, who emphasized the significance of yoga and responsible citizenship. Yoga sessions at the forts were led by students from the *Department of Sports Management*, while the session at College Turf was conducted by *Shri Sanjay Dixit Sir from the Department of Statistics*.

NCC Officers, NSS Programme Officers, and NCC cadets and Students of Department of Defense & Strategic Studies actively participated in the event. The cadets performed various yoga asanas with enthusiasm and discipline. The programme successfully combined the themes of health, heritage conservation, and youth responsibility, encouraging students to adopt yoga and contribute towards preserving India’s historical monuments.
