The fear of things getting heated shouldn't deter you from having much-needed difficult conversations with your partner.

In fact, if done right, they can strengthen your relationship.

Here are few tips to do it in the most painless and understanding manner.

👉 Collect your thoughts and compose your emotions. Plan what you wish to discuss beforehand.

👉 Pick an appropriate time and place where both you and your partner are NOT in a hurry, busy, overwhelmed, or exhausted.

👉 Focus on the issue. Don't drag other subjects into the conversation.

👉 Don't indulge in name-calling and personal attacks. Try to understand your partner's perspective and focus how the problem can be sorted.

👉 Take a break if you aren’t getting anywhere and return to it when both of you have had the opportunity to reflect (and perhaps, cool down a bit).

Don't avoid the conversations ❤️ Take them head-on!

If you're struggling still, seek professional help. My DMs are always open 🙌

"Comparison if the thief of joy."

And in relationships, it is the thief of love.

The moment you start comparing your relationship with others, you start taking your own relationship for granted. Suddenly, you forget the good qualities about your partner and become too focused on what's missing which leads to resentment and sadness.

Moreover, it is unfair to your partner as it sets unrealistic expectations from them when they didn't do anything 'wrong' in the first place!

It's important to remember that you may be comparing the worst of your relationship to the best parts of someone else's relationship that they want you to see. No relationship is perfect. No partner is perfect. You just have to find what's perfect for YOU.

So, instead of focusing on what you wish you would change in your relationship, look at your partner’s appealing qualities. Validate, and appreciate them for it.

Love them for who they are, not who you want them to be ❤️

Have you ever found yourself comparing your relationship to others?

Do you dread first-dates because of awkward conversations and long silences?

You’re not alone!

These tips will help you reduce the stress and overbearing pressure of the first-date so you can have a good time.

👉 Talk about things you have in common. Love coffee? Bond over your common love for it. Hate pineapple pizza? Laugh over it together!

👉 Don’t ask what they look for a living. Instead ask more open ended questions such as what inspired you to take this career or when did you know this is what you wanted to do.

👉 Ask about their hobbies, talents, and their social life.

👉 Discuss the deal-breakers for you.

👉 Be you! If you feel it isn’t a good match, or you’re forcing yourself to say things that don’t come to you naturally, you can always leave. The date doesn’t have to drag on over any self-imposed sense of obligation. The only thing you owe your date is respect and there’s always a way to exit a situation gracefully.

There is no such thing as an "effortless" relationship outside fairytales and movies.

Efforts in a relationship go beyond getting flowers and gifts for your partner. It involves being receptive to your partner's needs when even it isn't easy. It involves having tough conversations without fearing how your partner would react. It involves forgiving and being patient even when everything seems to be falling apart. It involves commitment and dedication to the fullest.

In the end, it's not love, but efforts that really sustain a relationship in long-term. Do you agree?

I'll go first..

I used to believe that love is enough. But now I know it takes more than that.

It's about staying connected, being emotionally present and compassionate, and being willing to work through most problems.

Love enhances efforts.

Over to you🎤 What is something you used to believe about relationships, but no longer do?
