At 50, the world seems quite small to me. It feels as though I have made connections all over the globe. How many of you feel the same?
This is because, over the past four decades of my life, I have encountered many people and formed countless human connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds across the world. That may seem ordinary to many, considering the years that have passed. But then, is it truly so simple? Let us explore it.
Humans are social animals. Making connections is a fundamental need because it directly supports mental, physical and emotional well-being. Networking in early humans was centred around survival, social bonds and cooperation. With the progress in the civilisation, networking extended to trade, religion and intellectual groups.
In modern times, apart from social connections, networking has evolved to include professional relationships, social media, and online communities. It remains essential for personal growth, career advancement, and collaboration. By building meaningful connections, individuals can learn, share knowledge, exchange ideas, and create opportunities that benefit both themselves and society as a whole.
Here are my top 5 rules of building connections;
1. Show up at every opportunity that comes your way- be yourself, be empathetic, be present
2. Nurture your connections- be proactive in reaching out to people and be persistent.
3. Networking is a 2-way process- being an active listener is as important as providing value
4. Make that extra effort - find ways to discover common ground, such as shared interests, values, and goals.
5. Support and Collaborate- find ways to work with others on projects, shared goals, or common interests. Support in difficult times.

Finally, forming human connections is not that difficult. All it takes is to be mindful, purposeful and open-minded.

As I witnessed my daughter Manasi Bengeri graduate after four years of hard work, dedication & learning, I realised that it was not just about getting a degree. There was more to it.
I observed a few things while I sat there seeing her and many others receive their respective degrees.

🍒 Yes, the degree is an achievement- a culmination of all the effort. But what is more important is the journey that has shaped her. It is the journey of self-discovery and transformation. Making her confident and ready to face the world with maturity and responsibility.
🍒 Education has enabled her critical thinking, problem-solving and collaborative skills.
🍒 She has learnt social skills, survival techniques and time management.
🍒 She has a better understanding of people coming from diverse cultures.
🍒 She has learnt to be independent as she constantly navigates through uncertainties and the need to be self-sufficient.
🍒 Through this journey, she has gained a network of people who share the same values.

There is a saying that a home is where you learn your first lessons of life, but a formal education gives you your identity. It shapes your character, builds resilience, and equips you with the tools to adapt to life’s challenges. Education is not just about knowledge; it is about becoming a well-rounded individual capable of contributing meaningfully to society and making a positive impact on the world.
And as her parents, our hearts swell with pride to see our daughter make her own identity and walk that path with confidence.

As a mother, wife, and professional, I have been juggling home responsibilities, family responsibilities, and personal development throughout my life. I always felt I had the energy to do more and never felt the need to rest or slow down.

All that was fine until recently. Home became empty, had fewer responsibilities and more time on hand. This left me feeling exhausted, confused, and overwhelmed. I realised that the constant motion had become my way of coping, and without it, I felt lost. For the first time, I had to confront the silence and stillness, which brought unexpected emotions and a need to redefine my purpose.

Spending a few minutes a day meditating has been of great benefit to me. 🧘🏻‍♀️

*It has allowed me to reconnect with my inner self and gain clarity on my emotions.

*It has provided a peaceful space to process my thoughts and feelings, reducing anxiety and bringing a sense of calm.

*As a result, I have started to feel more grounded and better equipped to handle the changes in my life.

Meditation isn’t about “doing nothing.” It’s about training your mind to pause, reset, and approach challenges with clarity and focus.

In today’s world, when it could be lonely, this clarity can enable you to lead a conscious and purposeful life.

🌱 A few minutes daily. A lifetime of difference.
There are apps that guide you into meditation. I use the Miracle of the mind by Sadguru.

✳️An entrepreneur’s life can be quite challenging at times.✳️
There are days when you are swamped with work, and there are days when there is nothing much to do. 😌😇
It is during those lull periods you might get;
❗ Anxious
❗ Stressed
❗ Feel purposeless
❗ Feel underconfident
This is where good habits come in handy.
Developing a habitual routine has helped me to stay motivated during challenging times.

A few of my daily routines are,
✅ Spirituality- such as meditation and prayer. It helps me maintain focus, a sense of balance and inner peace.
✅ Yoga/walking- in the morning. Incorporating physical activity, like yoga or a brisk walk, boosts energy and reduces stress. 🧘‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️
✅ Reading and journaling in the evening- It allows me to reflect and learn.
✅ Make it a point to keep in touch with my family by calling them.
✅ Apart from the above, I regularly attend Toastmasters club meetings .0 and Image management professional association’s group activities. They help me stay connected with like-minded people, improve my skills, and maintain a well-rounded approach to personal and professional growth. 👍

These routines help me maintain balance and focus, even during busy or slow periods.  Together, they create a foundation for productivity, creativity, and overall well-being.
I call it sustainable well-being. 😊

Consistently practising these habits fosters resilience and focus in both personal and professional life.
If you have already established a routine, you can use lull periods to focus on personal growth or skill development.
This way, I remain productive even when the workload is light, allowing me to make the most of my time. Additionally, maintaining a routine helps me to reduce stress and provide a sense of stability in an otherwise unpredictable entrepreneurial journey.
I call it investing in self. 🥰

Grateful for the Opportunity to Grow and Give Back!
As a Toastmaster and a passionate believer in leadership through service, I recently had the privilege of conducting a training session for the role of VP Education of Clubs in District 125. It was the Top-up online Toastmasters Leadership Training Program.
It was a rewarding experience to engage with fellow leaders, exchange ideas, and equip them with tools to lead their clubs with clarity and confidence for the term from July to December.
The energy, commitment, and drive of these leaders reaffirmed my belief in the power of continuous learning and collaboration.
Leadership is not just about guiding—it’s about enabling others to lead.
This opportunity reminded me that growth comes not just from learning, but also from sharing what we learn.
Thank you to the trio, Sushil Pawar, Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Siddhu, DTM, Uday Jagavkar and the district training officer, Rohan Patwardhan
