REPORT OF Ph.D. OPEN DEFENCE & VIVA-VOCE EXAMINATION
*Hearty Congratulations to Dr. Namitha D. | Dr. Shilpashree Y. D. | Ms. Johnsi Priya J on the Successful Completion of their Ph.D. Open Defence & Viva-Voce Examination* 💐💐
The Department of Biochemistry, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) successfully conducted the Ph.D. Open Defence and Viva-Voce Examination on _*_07 August 2026_*_ , in accordance with the Ph.D. Regulations of Adichunchanagiri University, in the presence of the duly constituted Board of Examiners (BOE).
Dr. Shilpashree Y. D., Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Farookh Academy of Medical Education Hospital and Research Institute, Mysore, defended her doctoral research entitled “Fat Mass and Obesity Gene Polymorphism and Thyroid Status Among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Rural South Indian Population: A Cross-Sectional Study.”
Dr. Namitha D., Professor, Department of Biochemistry, AIMS, defended her doctoral research entitled “Rediscovering Megalin as a Predictive Biomarker of Cardiovascular Risk Among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.”
Ms. Johnsi Priya J., Tutor, Department of Biochemistry, AIMS, defended her doctoral research entitled “Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor (LDLR) Gene Polymorphism (rs688) in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients in Rural South Indian Population.”
The doctoral research of all three scholars was undertaken under the guidance of Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Vice Principal, Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry, AIMS, who served as their Research Supervisor.
Dr. Asharani N., Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry, Alva’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Moodubidire, served as Co-Guide to Dr. Namitha D., providing valuable academic guidance and support.

The examination was conducted before the duly constituted Board of Examiners, comprising:

The Board critically evaluated the doctoral research through scholarly interaction, questioning, and academic deliberations. The scholars successfully demonstrated their understanding of the research methodology, findings, significance, and implications of their work.
Outcome
The successful completion of the Open Defence and Viva-Voce Examination marks a significant academic milestone for the three scholars. Based on their successful defence and satisfactory performance before the Board of Examiners, Dr. Namitha D., Dr. Shilpashree Y. D., and Ms. Johnsi Priya J. were declared eligible for the award of the Ph.D. degree in Medical Biochemistry.
The achievement reflects the scholars’ dedication to doctoral research and the able guidance and supervision of their Research Supervisor, along with the valuable contribution of the Co-Guide and the expert evaluation and academic inputs provided by the Board of Examiners.
Adichunchanagiri University and AIMS extend their heartfelt congratulations to the three scholars and wish them continued success in their academic, research, and professional careers.
