Irwin Christian High School (आयर्विन ख्रिस्चन हायस्कूल) is an Famous and Reputed English medium school located in Kolhapur. Around 1892, a school was opened in a small temporary shed in the present Sykes station area of Kolhapur. It was in the form of primary middle school & special class (English medium). Prince Shivaji & Rajaram were the founder students. As such Dr. Irwin & Lady Irwin shouldere

d the responsibility of educating them. Later, due to the sudden demise of Dr. Irwin in 1909, Lady Irwin took the both princes to England and looked after their education. This had a great impact on the mind of Ch. Shahu Maharaj, princly ruler of Kolhapur province, for dedication of educational service to his children. Hence he made available a 36 acres of land with the minimum cost for school. In 1915 a beautiful school building was constructed and the school was shifted to this site and named as "Irwin Christian High School" in the honour of Dr. & Lady Irwin.
