During our time at school, most of us considered science lessons and studies as mere requirements for scoring better marks in examinations. This often meant that we would just learn the facts, rather than fully understanding the concepts, which could eventually lead to a loss of interest in the subject. ry, mathematics and physics demonstrated how fascinating
science, and in particular, learning about science, can be. In order to bring this experience to the next generation of Indian school students, ‘Science is
Fun’ (SiF, founded by undergraduates, Ph.D. scholars, and Post-doctoral fellows) was created
with the primary aim to make science education a fun process, both for teachers and students. We are conducting science workshops for underprivileged children, to give them a better
understanding of science and to make them realize that learning can be interesting. To make
these workshops interesting and relevant for the students, we focus on experimental
demonstrations, followed by hands-on training.
