Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on October 2nd every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist. In India, Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, 2 October, is a national holiday. Globally, Gandhi's birthday is celebrated as the International Day of Nonviolence.
Very few people in this world have left a long-lasting impression on fellow beings with their ideologies and perspectives in life that still make an impact. One such person is Mahatma Gandhi, who was born in Porbandar, Gujarat on October 2, 1869. This year, the world is all geared up to celebrate the Mahatma’s 154th birth anniversary on Monday.

The auspicious festival of Lohri is celebrated with much pomp by the people of Haryana and Punjab, especially from the Hindu and Sikh community. Also known as Lohadi or Lal Loi, Lohri falls a day before Makar Sankranti. On this day, people light a fire outside their homes or in open spaces with wood and cow dung cakes and offer sesame seeds, jaggery, gajak, rewdi and peanuts to the lit bonfire while doing Parikrama around it. They also harvest the crops and offer the bhog made using the same to the fire.
