later the school was shifted to a vacant room in Dr. Waugh's bunglow and later to a rented house. A year later, they purchased a 'Haweli' from a treasurer of the last NAWAB of OUDH at Lal Bagh, for which they paid thousand silver coins each in fourteen bags. the HAWELI turned into the Temple of Education with the MOTTO " WE RECEIVE TO GIVE" . by 1876 there were 65 boarders and 51 day-scholars on roll. By 1884 two students were determined to sit in the entrance examination of Calcutta University, Lilavati Singh and Sharat Chakerburty. It was then a High School and the students appeared from Calcutta Board. Considering the need of Women education the school was upgraded to Lal Bagh Girls' Inter College to fulfill the dynamic role as the first full fledged Christian Women's College founded in Asia, inducted its goal to sustain and strengthen in every area , intellectual quality , commitment to service and to maintain the standards of scholarship that characterize the foremost institution in the Nation. By 1906 ten girls had passed the Intermediate Examination. With the passing time the enrollment grew and the college extended to start degree classes at Aliganj, now that college is named after Miss Isabella Thoburn and is known as I.T.College.(Isabella Thoburn College )
