JKTF Baramulla condemns Kishtwar Incident
Writes letter to Hon'ble Minister Education,DSEJ and DC Kishtwar, seeks exemplary punishment*
Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Forum District Baramulla has expressed profound shock, anguish and strongest resentment over the reported heinous incident allegedly involving a teacher in Kishtwar. The Forum unequivocally condemns the alleged act and stresses that any conduct compromising the dignity, safety and well-being of a student is utterly unacceptable and has no place in the noble teaching profession.
In a communication letter addressed to Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ) and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar District President JKTF Baramulla Mr Farooq Hussain Dar urges the authorities to ensure a swift, impartial, transparent and time-bound investigation and exemplary punishment for anyone found guilty under law.
JKTF Baramulla conveyed its solidarity with the victim and the bereaved family and asserted that justice must be delivered without fear, favour or influence. The Forum firmly believes that no individual, irrespective of position or profession, can be above the law. At the same time, it reiterated that action must follow due process and be based on the findings of a fair investigation and trial.
The Forum emphasised that the teaching profession is built upon trust, character, responsibility, compassion and the protection of children Any individual found guilty of violating this sacred trust must face the strictest action permissible under law and applicable service rules, so that public confidence in educational institutions is upheld.
Meanwhile, as an immediate organisational response, District President Farooq Hussain Dar** has nominated all Zonal Presidents of JKTF Baramulla as Zonal Nodal Coordinators and directed them to organise special awareness and counselling sessions for teachers across their respective zones.
The sessions will focus on student safety, professional ethics, responsible use of authority, teacher-student boundaries, moral and legal responsibilities, early identification of inappropriate conduct, and the creation of safe and child-friendly schools.
The Forum has also announced a comprehensive district-level programme dedicated to the welfare and betterment of students and teachers, with particular emphasis on student protection, professional conduct, counselling, mental well-being, accountability and strengthening a positive educational environment.
JKTF Baramulla maintained that while the overwhelming majority of teachers remain dedicated, responsible and deeply committed to their students, one reprehensible act can cast a shadow over the entire profession. The leadership of the Forum therefore called for a collective strengthening of professional ethics, awareness, counselling, institutional safeguards and accountability.
JKTF Baramulla stands firmly for justice, zero tolerance against misconduct, protection of every child and the dignity of the teaching profession. The safety, dignity and future of students shall always remain paramount.
