The Seventh Day Adventist High School at Vadavathoor, is one of the oldest co-educational English medium schools offering the ICSE (Indian School Certificate Examinations) syllabus education in Kottayam town in Kerala state, India. The school came into being in 1972 with the objective of providing mental, physical, social, spiritual and intellectual growth to boys and girls from the age of 4 to 17
years which form one of the core values of the Adventist education philosophy. The famous Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” We believe in an education system which imparts more than academic knowledge - an education system which fosters a balanced development of the whole person - spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially; an education system that has its time dimensions which span eternity. An education system which seeks to develop a life of faith in God and respect for the dignity of all human beings; to build character akin to that of the Creator; to nurture thinkers rather than mere reflectors of others' thoughts; to promote loving service rather than selfish ambition; to ensure maximum development of each individual's potential; and to embrace all that is true, good, and beautiful. The Seventh Day Adventist High School, Vadavathoor is managed by The Seventh Day Adventist Church which has an international network of educational institutions under it, and is probably the only school in town which imparts ICSE syllabus education at affordable fees. With a humble beginning when Mrs. P.T.Saramma , a teacher by profession who started the primary section classes in a small building the school has been instrumental in nurturing and grooming individuals as intellectuals who are now engaged in various fields across the globe. Apart from giving emphasis on the academics which is the core of an education system we do an equal emphasis on sports and extra-curricular programs for students which endows them with a much needed holistic education to give them a competitive edge over their counterparts elsewhere. The management, teaching faculty and staff are committed to stand and work together in fulfilling the vision and mission of the school. At this moment, we pay our respectful homage to the sacrificial service of our missionaries who have served as the pillars of this scholastic edifice in Kottayam town.
